    with her charioteers and horses;
    Kir^(C) uncovers the shield.

² A dire^(A) vision has been shown to me:
    The traitor betrays,^(B) the looter takes loot.
Elam,^(C) attack! Media,^(D) lay siege!
    I will bring to an end all the groaning she caused.

⁷ “Are not you Israelites
    the same to me as the Cushites^[a]?”^(A)
declares the Lord.
“Did I not bring Israel up from Egypt,
    the Philistines^(B) from Caphtor^[b](C)
    and the Arameans from Kir?^(D)

⁵ I will break down the gate^(A) of Damascus;
    I will destroy the king who is in^[a] the Valley of Aven^[b]
and the one who holds the scepter in Beth Eden.^(B)
    The people of Aram will go into exile to Kir,^(C)”
says the Lord.^(D)

“See, I will break the bow^(A) of Elam,
    the mainstay of their might.
³⁶ I will bring against Elam the four winds^(B)
    from the four quarters of heaven;^(C)
I will scatter them to the four winds,
    and there will not be a nation
    where Elam’s exiles do not go.
³⁷ I will shatter Elam before their foes,
    before those who want to kill them;
I will bring disaster on them,
    even my fierce anger,”^(D)
declares the Lord.
“I will pursue them with the sword^(E)
    until I have made an end of them.
³⁸ I will set my throne in Elam
    and destroy her king and officials,”
declares the Lord.

³⁹ “Yet I will restore^(F) the fortunes of Elam
    in days to come,”
declares the Lord.

Ar^(D) in Moab is ruined,^(E)
    destroyed in a night!
Kir^(F) in Moab is ruined,
    destroyed in a night!
