²¹ I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash^(A) around him and hand your authority^(B) over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the people of Judah.

⁸ “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.^(A) He made me father^(B) to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.^(C)

The Triumph of the Jews

¹⁵ When Mordecai^(A) left the king’s presence, he was wearing royal garments of blue and white, a large crown of gold^(B) and a purple robe of fine linen.^(C) And the city of Susa held a joyous celebration.^(D)

² The king took off his signet ring,^(A) which he had reclaimed from Haman, and presented it to Mordecai. And Esther appointed him over Haman’s estate.^(B)

⁴ Jonathan took off the robe^(A) he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt.^(B)

⁴² Then Pharaoh took his signet ring^(A) from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes^(B) of fine linen^(C) and put a gold chain around his neck.^{(D) 43} He had him ride in a chariot^(E) as his second-in-command,^[a](F) and people shouted before him, “Make way^[b]!”^(G) Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.^(H)
