¹¹ You made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But you did not look to him who did it or have regard for him who planned it long ago.^(A)

² Thus says the Lord who makes it, the Lord who forms it to establish it—the Lord is his name:^{(A) 3} Call to me, and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.^(B)

Alliance with Egypt Is Futile

⁷ On that day people will look to their Maker, with their eyes on the Holy One of Israel;^(A)

⁴ Then a breach was made in the city wall;^[a] the king with all the soldiers fled^[b] by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, by the King’s Garden, though the Chaldeans were all around the city. They went in the direction of the Arabah.^(A)

⁴ When King Zedekiah of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled, going out of the city at night by way of the King’s Garden through the gate between the two walls, and they went toward the Arabah.^(A)

¹⁷ I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.^(A)
