¹⁹ And when they say to you, ^(A)“Seek those who are mediums and wizards, ^(B)who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they ^(C)seek the dead on behalf of the living?

^2 (A)Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

¹³ So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had ^[a]committed against the Lord, ^(A)because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because ^(B)he consulted a medium for guidance.

^7 (A)The king cried ^[a]aloud to bring in ^(B)the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke, saying to the wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing, and tells me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around his neck; ^(C)and he shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”

^14 (A)Can your heart endure, or can your hands remain strong, in the days when I shall deal with you? ^(B)I, the Lord, have spoken, and will do it.

⁷ And it shall be when they say to you, ‘Why are you sighing?’ that you shall answer, ‘Because of the news; when it comes, every heart will melt, ^(A)all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it is coming and shall be brought to pass,’ says the Lord God.”
