⁷ So the wealth they have acquired^(A) and stored up
    they carry away over the Ravine of the Poplars.

³⁶ “So my heart laments^(A) for Moab like the music of a pipe;
    it laments like a pipe for the people of Kir Hareseth.^(B)
    The wealth they acquired^(C) is gone.

¹² The lion killed^(A) enough for his cubs
    and strangled the prey for his mate,
filling his lairs^(B) with the kill
    and his dens with the prey.^(C)

¹³ “I am against^(D) you,”
    declares the Lord Almighty.
“I will burn up your chariots in smoke,^(E)
    and the sword^(F) will devour your young lions.
    I will leave you no prey on the earth.
The voices of your messengers
    will no longer be heard.”^(G)

Through a land of hardship and distress,^(C)
    of lions^(D) and lionesses,
    of adders and darting snakes,^(E)
the envoys carry their riches on donkeys’^(F) backs,
    their treasures^(G) on the humps of camels,
to that unprofitable nation,

¹⁴ As one reaches into a nest,^(A)
    so my hand reached for the wealth^(B) of the nations;
as people gather abandoned eggs,
    so I gathered all the countries;^(C)
not one flapped a wing,
    or opened its mouth to chirp.^(D)’”

²⁹ Their roar is like that of the lion,^(A)
    they roar like young lions;
they growl as they seize^(B) their prey
    and carry it off with no one to rescue.^(C)
