⁸     and they will be terrified.
Pangs and agony will seize them;
    they will be in anguish like a woman in labor.
They will look aghast at one another;
    their faces will be aflame.^(A)

³ Therefore my loins are filled with anguish;
    pangs have seized me
    like the pangs of a woman in labor;
I am bowed down so that I cannot hear;
    I am dismayed so that I cannot see.^(A)

¹⁷ Like a woman with child
    about to give birth
    writhes and cries out in her pain,
so were we because of you, O Lord;^(A)
18     we were with child; we writhed,
    but we gave birth only to wind.
We have won no victories on earth,
    and no one is born to inhabit the world.^(B)

¹² Let them give glory to the Lord
    and declare his praise in the coastlands.^(A)

¹⁰ Woe to anyone who says to a father, “What are you fathering?”
    or to a woman, “With what are you in labor?”
