    plead the widow's cause.

²³ Your princes are rebels
    and companions of thieves.
Everyone ^(A)loves a bribe
    and runs after gifts.
^(B)They do not bring justice to the fatherless,
    and the widow's cause does not come to them.

^3 (A)Give justice to ^(B)the weak and the fatherless;
    ^(C)maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
^4 (D)Rescue the weak and the needy;
    ^(E)deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

⁹ Open your mouth, ^(A)judge righteously,
    ^(B)defend the rights of ^(C)the poor and needy.

¹⁵ Do you think you are a king
    because you compete in cedar?
Did not your father eat and drink
    and ^(A)do justice and righteousness?
    ^(B)Then it was well with him.
