17 E esperarei o Senhor, que esconde o rosto da casa de Jacó, e a ele aguardarei. 18 Eis-me aqui, com os filhos que me deu o Senhor, como sinais e maravilhas em Israel da parte do Senhor dos Exércitos, que habita no monte de Sião.
19 Quando vos disserem: Consultai os que têm espíritos familiares e os adivinhos, que chilreiam e murmuram entre dentes; — não recorrerá um povo ao seu Deus? A favor dos vivos interrogar-se-ão os mortos?

17 I will wait for the Lord to help us.
The Lord is ashamed of the family of Israel.
I will trust the Lord.
18 I am here. And with me are the children the Lord has given me. We are signs and proofs for the people of Israel. We have been sent by the Lord of heaven’s armies. He lives on Mount Zion.
19 Some people say, “Ask the mediums and fortune-tellers what to do. They whisper and mutter and ask dead people what to do.” But I tell you that people should ask their God for help. Why should people who are still alive ask something from the dead?

17 I will (A)wait for the Lord, who is (B)hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him. 18 (C)Behold, I and (D)the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion. 19 And when they say to you, “Inquire of the (E)mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of (F)the dead on behalf of the living?

19 When someone tells you to consult(H) mediums and spiritists,(I) who whisper and mutter,(J) should not a people inquire(K) of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
