65 El Señor dice:
«Los que no me habían pedido nada
fueron los que acudieron a mí;
los que no me habían buscado
fueron los que me encontraron.
A un pueblo que no me había invocado
fue al que le dije: “Aquí estoy.”
2 Todo el día extendí mis manos
para atraer a un pueblo rebelde
que iba por caminos perversos
siguiendo sus propios caprichos;
3 un pueblo que en mi propia cara
me ofendía continuamente;
que ofrecía sacrificios a los dioses en los jardines
y quemaba incienso en altares de ladrillo;
4 que se sentaba entre los sepulcros
y pasaba las noches en sitios escondidos;
que comía carne de cerdo
y llenaba sus ollas de caldos impuros.
5 Dicen: “Quédate ahí, no me toques;
soy demasiado sagrado para que me toques.”
Esa gente es como fuego que arde todo el día;
me molestan como el humo en las narices.
6 Pero todo esto está escrito delante de mí,
y no voy a quedarme cruzado de brazos;
voy a darles su merecido,
7 tanto por los crímenes de ellos
como por los de sus padres.
Ellos quemaban incienso sobre los montes
y me ofendían en las colinas.
Haré primero la cuenta
y les daré su merecido.»

8 El Señor dice:
«Cuando las uvas tienen mucho jugo
la gente no las echa a perder,
porque pueden sacar mucho vino.
Así haré yo también por amor a mis siervos:
no destruiré a toda la nación.
9 Haré que Jacob tenga descendientes
y que haya gente en Judá que viva en mis montañas.
Mis elegidos poseerán la tierra,
mis servidores vivirán allí.
10 El valle de Sarón se llenará de rebaños
y en el valle de Acor pastará el ganado
que tendrá el pueblo que me busca.
11 Pero a ustedes que se apartan del Señor
y se olvidan de mi monte santo,
que ofrecen comida y vino
a Gad y Mení, dioses de la fortuna,
12 mala fortuna les espera:
los haré morir a filo de espada.
Porque yo los llamé y ustedes no respondieron;
les hablé y no me escucharon;
hicieron lo que yo no apruebo,
escogieron lo que a mí me disgusta.»
13 Por eso, el Señor dice:
«Mis servidores tendrán de comer,
pero ustedes sufrirán hambre;
ellos tendrán de beber,
pero ustedes sufrirán sed;
ellos se alegrarán,
pero ustedes quedarán en ridículo;
14 ellos cantarán de alegría
por el gozo de su corazón,
pero ustedes gritarán y llorarán
por la tristeza y la aflicción.
15 Mis elegidos usarán el nombre de ustedes
para maldecir y desear la muerte a otros,
pero a mis siervos les cambiaré de nombre.
16 Cualquiera que en el país pida una bendición,
la pedirá al Dios fiel;
y cualquiera que en el país haga un juramento,
jurará por el Dios fiel.
Las aflicciones anteriores han quedado olvidadas,
han desaparecido de mi vista.
17 »Miren, yo voy a crear
un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva.
Lo pasado quedará olvidado,
nadie se volverá a acordar de ello.
18 Llénense de gozo y alegría para siempre
por lo que voy a crear,
porque voy a crear una Jerusalén feliz
y un pueblo contento que viva en ella.
19 Yo mismo me alegraré por Jerusalén
y sentiré gozo por mi pueblo.
En ella no se volverá a oír llanto
ni gritos de angustia.
20 Allí no habrá niños que mueran a los pocos días,
ni ancianos que no completen su vida.
Morir a los cien años será morir joven,
y no llegar a los cien años será una maldición.
21 La gente construirá casas y vivirá en ellas,
sembrará viñedos y comerá sus uvas.
22 No sucederá que uno construya y otro viva allí,
o que uno siembre y otro se aproveche.
Mi pueblo tendrá una vida larga, como la de un árbol;
mis elegidos disfrutarán del trabajo de sus manos.
23 No trabajarán en vano
ni tendrán hijos que mueran antes de tiempo,
porque ellos son descendientes
de los que el Señor ha bendecido,
y lo mismo serán sus descendientes.
24 Antes que ellos me llamen,
yo les responderé;
antes que terminen de hablar,
yo los escucharé.
25 El lobo y el cordero comerán juntos,
el león comerá pasto, como el buey,
y la serpiente se alimentará de tierra.
En todo mi monte santo
no habrá quien haga ningún daño.»

Dios condena la idolatría
65 Dios dijo:
«Yo he salido al encuentro
de gente que no me buscaba;
a un pueblo que no me había llamado,
yo le dije: “Aquí estoy”.
2 Siempre he estado dispuesto
a recibir a ese pueblo rebelde,
que va por malos caminos
y sigue sus propios caprichos.
3 Ese pueblo siempre me ofende:
ofrece sacrificios a los ídolos
y quema incienso sobre unos ladrillos.
4 »Este pueblo se sienta en los sepulcros
y pasa la noche en las cuevas
para rendirles culto a sus muertos;
hasta come carne de cerdo
y llena sus ollas con el caldo
que ha ofrecido a los ídolos.
5 »Este pueblo anda diciendo:
“No se metan con nosotros;
somos un pueblo elegido por Dios”.
»Pero son un pueblo tan molesto
como el humo en las narices,
como un fuego que arde todo el día.
6 Por eso llevo la cuenta
de todo lo que hace,
y no me quedaré callado,
sino que le daré su merecido.
7 »Castigaré a este pueblo
por todos los crímenes que ha cometido.
Me ofendió grandemente
al quemar incienso a los ídolos
sobre los montes y las colinas.
Por eso, ajustaremos cuentas,
y le daré su merecido.
Les juro que así será».

«Mis fieles seguidores tendrán comida,
pero ustedes,
los que se apartan de mí,
sentirán hambre;
mis seguidores tendrán agua,
pero ustedes tendrán sed.
»Mis seguidores se alegrarán,
pero ustedes quedarán avergonzados.
14 Ellos cantarán con el corazón alegre,
mientras que ustedes gritarán y llorarán
con el corazón hecho pedazos.
15 »A mis seguidores les daré
un nombre hermoso;
en cambio, el nombre de ustedes
se usará para maldecir a otros.
16 »Yo soy un Dios fiel,
y prometo que mis fieles seguidores
dejarán de sufrir.
Todo el que pida
una bendición en el país,
la pedirá en mi nombre,
porque yo cumplo lo que prometo;
y todo el que haga un juramento
jurará en mi nombre,
porque yo cumplo mis juramentos».
El cielo nuevo y la tierra nueva
17-18 Dios dijo:
«Llénense de alegría,
porque voy a crear algo nuevo.
Voy a crear un cielo nuevo
y una tierra nueva.
Todo lo del pasado será olvidado,
y nadie lo recordará más.
»Voy a crear una nueva Jerusalén;
será una ciudad feliz
y en ella vivirá un pueblo alegre.
19 Yo mismo me alegraré con Jerusalén
y haré fiesta con mi pueblo.
En Jerusalén no habrá más llanto
ni se oirán gritos de angustia.
20 »No habrá niños
que mueran al nacer,
ni ancianos que mueran
antes de tiempo.
Morir a los cien años
será morir joven;
no llegar a esa edad
será una maldición.
21-22 »Mi pueblo construirá casas,
y vivirá en ellas;
sembrará viñedos y campos de trigo,
y comerá pan y beberá vino.
Mi pueblo tendrá una larga vida,
y podrá disfrutar del trabajo de sus manos.
23 »Mi pueblo no trabajará en vano,
ni sus hijos morirán antes de tiempo.
Porque yo los bendeciré
a ellos, a sus hijos y a sus nietos.

ya los habré escuchado.

No habrá en toda Jerusalén

The Righteousness of God’s Judgement
65 I was ready to be sought out by those who did not ask,
to be found by those who did not seek me.
I said, ‘Here I am, here I am’,
to a nation that did not call on my name.
2 I held out my hands all day long
to a rebellious people,
who walk in a way that is not good,
following their own devices;
3 a people who provoke me
to my face continually,
sacrificing in gardens
and offering incense on bricks;
4 who sit inside tombs,
and spend the night in secret places;
who eat swine’s flesh,
with broth of abominable things in their vessels;
5 who say, ‘Keep to yourself,
do not come near me, for I am too holy for you.’
These are a smoke in my nostrils,
a fire that burns all day long.
6 See, it is written before me:
I will not keep silent, but I will repay;
I will indeed repay into their laps
7 their[a] iniquities and their[b] ancestors’ iniquities together,
says the Lord;
because they offered incense on the mountains
and reviled me on the hills,
I will measure into their laps
full payment for their actions.
8 Thus says the Lord:
As the wine is found in the cluster,
and they say, ‘Do not destroy it,
for there is a blessing in it’,
so I will do for my servants’ sake,
and not destroy them all.
9 I will bring forth descendants[c] from Jacob,
and from Judah inheritors[d] of my mountains;
my chosen shall inherit it,
and my servants shall settle there.
10 Sharon shall become a pasture for flocks,
and the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down,
for my people who have sought me.
11 But you who forsake the Lord,
who forget my holy mountain,
who set a table for Fortune
and fill cups of mixed wine for Destiny,
12 I will destine you to the sword,
and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter;
because, when I called, you did not answer,
when I spoke, you did not listen,
but you did what was evil in my sight,
and chose what I did not delight in.
13 Therefore thus says the Lord God:
My servants shall eat,
but you shall be hungry;
my servants shall drink,
but you shall be thirsty;
my servants shall rejoice,
but you shall be put to shame;
14 my servants shall sing for gladness of heart,
but you shall cry out for pain of heart,
and shall wail for anguish of spirit.
15 You shall leave your name to my chosen to use as a curse,
and the Lord God will put you to death;
but to his servants he will give a different name.
16 Then whoever invokes a blessing in the land
shall bless by the God of faithfulness,
and whoever takes an oath in the land
shall swear by the God of faithfulness;
because the former troubles are forgotten
and are hidden from my sight.
The Glorious New Creation
17 For I am about to create new heavens
and a new earth;
the former things shall not be remembered
or come to mind.
18 But be glad and rejoice for ever
in what I am creating;
for I am about to create Jerusalem as a joy,
and its people as a delight.
19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem,
and delight in my people;
no more shall the sound of weeping be heard in it,
or the cry of distress.
20 No more shall there be in it
an infant that lives but a few days,
or an old person who does not live out a lifetime;
for one who dies at a hundred years will be considered a youth,
and one who falls short of a hundred will be considered accursed.
21 They shall build houses and inhabit them;
they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
22 They shall not build and another inhabit;
they shall not plant and another eat;
for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be,
and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
23 They shall not labour in vain,
or bear children for calamity;[e]
for they shall be offspring blessed by the Lord—
and their descendants as well.
24 Before they call I will answer,
while they are yet speaking I will hear.
25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,
the lion shall eat straw like the ox;
but the serpent—its food shall be dust!
They shall not hurt or destroy
on all my holy mountain,
says the Lord.

65 I [a]am inquired of by them that asked not for me; I [b]am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation [c]that was not called by my name. 2 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, that walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts; 3 a people that provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens, and burning incense upon bricks; 4 that [d]sit among the graves, and lodge in the [e]secret places; that eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; 5 that say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me, for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day. 6 Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, yea, I will recompense into their bosom, 7 your own iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith Jehovah, that have burned incense upon the mountains, and [f]blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I [g]first measure their work into their bosom.

Judgment and Salvation
65 “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me.(A)
To a nation(B) that did not call on my name,(C)
I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’
2 All day long I have held out my hands
to an obstinate people,(D)
who walk in ways not good,
pursuing their own imaginations(E)—
3 a people who continually provoke me
to my very face,(F)
offering sacrifices in gardens(G)
and burning incense(H) on altars of brick;
4 who sit among the graves(I)
and spend their nights keeping secret vigil;
who eat the flesh of pigs,(J)
and whose pots hold broth of impure meat;
5 who say, ‘Keep away; don’t come near me,
for I am too sacred(K) for you!’
Such people are smoke(L) in my nostrils,
a fire that keeps burning all day.
6 “See, it stands written before me:
I will not keep silent(M) but will pay back(N) in full;
I will pay it back into their laps(O)—
7 both your sins(P) and the sins of your ancestors,”(Q)
says the Lord.
“Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains
and defied me on the hills,(R)
I will measure into their laps
the full payment(S) for their former deeds.”
8 This is what the Lord says:
“As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes(T)
and people say, ‘Don’t destroy it,
there is still a blessing in it,’
so will I do in behalf of my servants;(U)
I will not destroy them all.
9 I will bring forth descendants(V) from Jacob,
and from Judah those who will possess(W) my mountains;
my chosen(X) people will inherit them,
and there will my servants live.(Y)
10 Sharon(Z) will become a pasture for flocks,(AA)

14 My servants will sing(AR)
out of the joy of their hearts,
but you will cry out(AS)
from anguish of heart

15 You will leave your name
for my chosen ones to use in their curses;(AT)
the Sovereign Lord will put you to death,
but to his servants he will give another name.(AU)

17 “See, I will create

The former things will not be remembered,(BA)
nor will they come to mind.

in what I will create,
for I will create Jerusalem(BC) to be a delight
and its people a joy.
19 I will rejoice(BD) over Jerusalem
and take delight(BE) in my people;
the sound of weeping and of crying(BF)
will be heard in it no more.
20 “Never again will there be in it
an infant(BG) who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not live out his years;(BH)
the one who dies at a hundred
will be thought a mere child;
the one who fails to reach[a] a hundred
will be considered accursed.
