Los dioses de Babilonia
46 Bel se inclina, Nebo se somete;
sus ídolos son llevados por bestias de carga.[a]
Pesadas son las imágenes que por todas partes llevan;
son una carga para el agotado.
2 Todos a la vez se someten y se inclinan;
no pudieron librarse de la carga,
y ellos mismos van al cautiverio.
3 «Escúchame, familia de Jacob,
todo el resto de la familia de Israel,
a quienes he cargado desde el vientre,
y he llevado desde la cuna.
4 Aun en la vejez, cuando ya peinéis canas,
yo seré el mismo, yo os sostendré.
Yo os hice, y cuidaré de vosotros;
os sostendré y os libraré.
5 »¿Con quién vas a compararme,
o a quién me vas a igualar?
¿A quién vas a asemejarme,
para que seamos parecidos?
6 Algunos derrochan oro de sus bolsas
y pesan plata en la balanza;
contratan a un joyero para que les haga un dios,
y ante ese dios se inclinan para adorarlo.
7 Lo levantan en hombros y lo cargan;
lo ponen en su lugar, y allí se queda.
No se puede mover de su sitio.
Por más que clamen a él, no habrá de responderles,
ni podrá salvarlos de sus aflicciones.
8 »Recordad esto, rebeldes;
pensadlo bien, ¡fijadlo en vuestra mente!
9 Recordad las cosas pasadas, aquellas de antaño;
yo soy Dios, y no hay ningún otro,
yo soy Dios, y no hay nadie igual a mí.
10 Yo anuncio el fin desde el principio;
desde los tiempos antiguos, lo que va a suceder.
Yo digo: Mi propósito se cumplirá,
y haré todo lo que deseo.
11 Del oriente llamo
al ave de rapiña;
de tierra distante,
al hombre que cumplirá mi propósito.
Lo que he dicho, haré que se cumpla;
lo que he planeado, lo realizaré.
12 Escuchadme vosotros, obstinados de corazón,
que estáis lejos de la justicia.
13 Mi justicia no está lejana;
mi salvación ya no tarda.
¡Estoy a punto de traerlas!
Concederé salvación a Sión,
y mi esplendor a Israel.

y ellos mismos van al cautiverio.
3 «Escúchenme, descendientes de Jacob,
todo el resto del pueblo de Israel,
a quienes he cargado desde el vientre
y he llevado desde la cuna.
4 Aun en la vejez, cuando ya peinen canas,
yo seré el mismo, yo los sostendré.
Yo los hice y cuidaré de ustedes;
los sostendré y los libraré.
5 »¿Con quién vas a compararme o a quién me vas a igualar?
¿A quién vas a asemejarme para que seamos parecidos?

46 Isaías dijo:
«Las estatuas de Bel y Nebo,
dioses de Babilonia,
se tambalean y caen al suelo.
Los babilonios las ponen
sobre animales de carga
que no soportan tanto peso.
2 Estas estatuas se caen al suelo
y son llevadas a otros países,
porque son incapaces de salvarse».
3 Dios dijo:
«Óiganme ustedes,
israelitas que aún quedan con vida:
Yo los he cuidado
desde antes que nacieran,
los he llevado en brazos
4 y seguiré haciendo lo mismo
hasta que lleguen a viejos
y peinen canas;
los sostendré y los salvaré
porque yo soy su creador.
5 »¿Con quién pueden compararme?
Yo no me parezco a nadie.
6 Hay gente que gasta mucho oro y plata
para contratar un artesano
que le fabrique un dios.
Luego se arrodilla ante él para adorarlo.
7 Cargan la estatua del dios
sobre sus hombros,
lo ponen en su sitio,
y de allí no se mueve.
Por más que griten
pidiéndole agua,
ese dios no les responde
ni puede librarlos de sus males.
8 »Recuerden esto, pecadores,
y piénsenlo bien:
9 recuerden todo lo que ha pasado
desde tiempos antiguos.
Yo soy Dios, y no hay otro;
soy Dios, y no hay nadie igual a mí.
10 Yo anuncio desde el principio
lo que va a pasar al final,
y doy a conocer el futuro
desde mucho tiempo antes.
Les aseguro que todos mis planes
se cumplirán tal como yo quiero.
11 »Yo he llamado de Persia
a un rey llamado Ciro;
él vendrá desde lejos,
como un ave de rapiña,
y hará lo que yo diga.
Tengo un plan, y haré que se cumpla.
Juro que así será.
12 »Escúchenme, gente terca:
ustedes no están a salvo.
13 Pero pronto vendré a salvarlos;
ya no demoraré más.
Yo le daré a Jerusalén la salvación,
y mi honor al pueblo de Israel».

46 Bel bows down, Nebo stoops [gods of Babylon, whose idols are being carried off]; their idols are on the beasts [of burden] and on the cattle. These things that you carry about are loaded as burdens on the weary beasts.
2 [The gods] stoop, they bow down together; they cannot save [their own idols], but are themselves going into captivity.
3 Listen to Me [says the Lord], O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, you who have been borne by Me from your birth, carried from the womb:
4 Even to your old age I am He, and even to hair white with age will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry and will save you.
5 To whom will you liken Me and make Me equal and compare Me, that we may be alike?(A)
6 They lavish gold out of the cup or bag, weigh out silver on the scales, and hire a goldsmith, and he fashions it into a god; [then] they fall down, yes, they worship it!
7 They bear it upon their shoulders [in religious processions or into battle]; they carry it and set it down in its place, and there it stands. It cannot move from its place. Even if one cries to it for help, yet [the idol] cannot answer or save him out of his distress.
8 [Earnestly] remember this, be ashamed and own yourselves guilty; bring it again to mind and lay it to heart, O you rebels!
9 [Earnestly] remember the former things, [which I did] of old; for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is none like Me,
10 Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure and purpose,
11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east—the man [Cyrus] who executes My counsel from a far country. Yes, I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed it, and I will do it.
12 Listen to Me, you stiff-hearted and you who have lost heart, you who are far from righteousness (from uprightness and right standing with God, and from His righteous deliverance).
13 I bring near My righteousness [in the deliverance of Israel], it will not be far off; and My salvation shall not tarry. And I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel My glory [yes, give salvation in Zion and My glory to Israel].

Gods of Babylon
46 Bel(A) bows down, Nebo stoops low;
their idols(B) are borne by beasts of burden.[a]
The images that are carried(C) about are burdensome,
a burden for the weary.
2 They stoop and bow down together;
unable to rescue the burden,
they themselves go off into captivity.(D)
3 “Listen(E) to me, you descendants of Jacob,
all the remnant(F) of the people of Israel,
you whom I have upheld since your birth,(G)
and have carried(H) since you were born.(I)
4 Even to your old age and gray hairs(J)
I am he,(K) I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain(L) you and I will rescue you.
5 “With whom will you compare me or count me equal?
To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?(M)
6 Some pour out gold from their bags
and weigh out silver on the scales;
they hire a goldsmith(N) to make it into a god,
and they bow down and worship it.(O)
7 They lift it to their shoulders and carry(P) it;
they set it up in its place, and there it stands.
From that spot it cannot move.(Q)
Even though someone cries out to it, it cannot answer;(R)
it cannot save(S) them from their troubles.
8 “Remember(T) this, keep it in mind,
take it to heart, you rebels.(U)
9 Remember the former things,(V) those of long ago;(W)
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me.(X)
10 I make known the end from the beginning,(Y)
from ancient times,(Z) what is still to come.(AA)
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,(AB)
and I will do all that I please.’
11 From the east I summon(AC) a bird of prey;(AD)
from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose.
What I have said, that I will bring about;
what I have planned,(AE) that I will do.(AF)
12 Listen(AG) to me, you stubborn-hearted,(AH)
you who are now far from my righteousness.(AI)
13 I am bringing my righteousness(AJ) near,
it is not far away;
and my salvation(AK) will not be delayed.
I will grant salvation to Zion,(AL)
my splendor(AM) to Israel.
