Ezequías recibe a los enviados de Babilonia(A)
39 Por aquel tiempo el rey Merodac-baladán, hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia, oyó decir que Ezequías había estado enfermo pero que ya había recobrado la salud, y por medio de unos mensajeros le envió cartas y un regalo. 2 Ezequías se alegró de su llegada y les mostró su tesoro, la plata y el oro, los perfumes, el aceite fino y su depósito de armas, y todo lo que se encontraba en sus depósitos. No hubo nada en su palacio ni en todo su reino que no les mostrara. 3 Entonces fue el profeta Isaías a ver al rey Ezequías, y le preguntó:
—¿De dónde vinieron esos hombres, y qué te dijeron?
Ezequías respondió:
—Vinieron de un país lejano; vinieron de Babilonia.
4 Isaías le preguntó:
—¿Y qué vieron en tu palacio?
Ezequías contestó:
—Vieron todo lo que hay en él. No hubo nada en mis depósitos que yo no les mostrara.
5 Isaías dijo entonces a Ezequías:
—Escucha este mensaje del Señor todopoderoso: 6 “Van a venir días en que todo lo que hay en tu palacio y todo lo que juntaron tus antepasados hasta el día de hoy, será llevado a Babilonia. No quedará aquí nada. 7 Aun a algunos de tus propios descendientes se los llevarán a Babilonia, los castrarán y los pondrán como criados en el palacio del rey.”
8 Ezequías, pensando que al menos durante su vida habría paz y seguridad, respondió a Isaías:
—El mensaje que me has traído de parte del Señor es favorable.

39 Merodac-baladán hijo de Baladán, que era rey de Babilonia, se enteró de que Ezequías había estado enfermo, así que le envió mensajeros con cartas y un regalo. 2 Ezequías les dio la bienvenida y les mostró todos los tesoros del palacio, el oro y la plata, los perfumes, los aceites finos, y las armas y todo lo que había en las bodegas. Recorrieron todo el palacio y el reino, y no hubo nada que Ezequías no les mostrara.
3 Entonces el profeta Isaías fue a ver al rey y le preguntó:
—¿Y esa gente de dónde vino? ¿Qué te dijeron?
Ezequías respondió:
—Vinieron de Babilonia, que es un país muy lejano.
4 Isaías le preguntó:
—¿Qué vieron en tu palacio?
Ezequías contestó:
—¡Todo! Les mostré todo lo que tengo en mi palacio y en mis bodegas.
5 Entonces Isaías le dijo:
—Escucha este mensaje de parte de Dios: 6 “En el futuro, todo lo que hay en tu palacio será llevado a Babilonia. Se llevarán todo lo que juntaron tus antepasados hasta el día de hoy. No va a quedar nada. 7 También a algunos de tus hijos se los llevarán a Babilonia, y allí los harán esclavos y no les permitirán tener descendientes”.
8 Ezequías pensó que por lo menos vivirían seguros y en paz mientras él fuera rey, así que le respondió a Isaías:
—Sí así lo quiere Dios, está bien.

39 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.
2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.
4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord of hosts:
6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.
7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

39 (A)En aquel tiempo Merodac-baladán, hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia(B), envió cartas y un regalo a Ezequías porque oyó que había estado enfermo y se había recuperado. 2 Se alegró por ello[a] Ezequías y les mostró la casa de su tesoro: la plata y el oro, las especias y el aceite precioso, todo su arsenal y todo lo que se hallaba en sus tesoros. No hubo nada en su casa ni en todo su dominio que Ezequías no les mostrara(C). 3 Entonces el profeta Isaías vino al rey Ezequías, y le dijo(D): ¿Qué han dicho esos hombres y de dónde han venido a ti? Y Ezequías respondió: Han venido a mí de un país lejano(E), de Babilonia. 4 Y él dijo: ¿Qué han visto en tu casa? Y Ezequías respondió: Han visto todo lo que hay en mi casa; no hay nada entre mis tesoros que yo no les haya mostrado. 5 Entonces Isaías dijo a Ezequías: Oye la palabra del Señor(F) de los ejércitos: 6 «He aquí, vienen días cuando todo lo que hay en tu casa y todo lo que tus padres han atesorado hasta el día de hoy, será llevado a Babilonia; nada quedará(G)» —dice el Señor. 7 «Y algunos de tus hijos que saldrán de ti, los que engendrarás, serán llevados(H) y serán oficiales[b] en el palacio del rey de Babilonia(I)». 8 Entonces Ezequías dijo a Isaías: La palabra del Señor que has hablado es buena. Pues pensaba[c]: Porque habrá paz y seguridad[d] en mis días(J).

Envoys From Babylon(A)
39 At that time Marduk-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon(B) sent Hezekiah letters and a gift, because he had heard of his illness and recovery. 2 Hezekiah received the envoys(C) gladly and showed them what was in his storehouses—the silver, the gold,(D) the spices, the fine olive oil—his entire armory and everything found among his treasures.(E) There was nothing in his palace or in all his kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.
3 Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked, “What did those men say, and where did they come from?”
“From a distant land,(F)” Hezekiah replied. “They came to me from Babylon.”
4 The prophet asked, “What did they see in your palace?”
“They saw everything in my palace,” Hezekiah said. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
5 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word(G) of the Lord Almighty: 6 The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your predecessors have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon.(H) Nothing will be left, says the Lord. 7 And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.(I)”
8 “The word of the Lord you have spoken is good,(J)” Hezekiah replied. For he thought, “There will be peace and security in my lifetime.(K)”
