39 (A)En aquel tiempo Merodac-baladán, hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia(B), envió cartas y un regalo a Ezequías porque oyó que había estado enfermo y se había recuperado. 2 Se alegró por ello[a] Ezequías y les mostró la casa de su tesoro: la plata y el oro, las especias y el aceite precioso, todo su arsenal y todo lo que se hallaba en sus tesoros. No hubo nada en su casa ni en todo su dominio que Ezequías no les mostrara(C). 3 Entonces el profeta Isaías vino al rey Ezequías, y le dijo(D): ¿Qué han dicho esos hombres y de dónde han venido a ti? Y Ezequías respondió: Han venido a mí de un país lejano(E), de Babilonia. 4 Y él dijo: ¿Qué han visto en tu casa? Y Ezequías respondió: Han visto todo lo que hay en mi casa; no hay nada entre mis tesoros que yo no les haya mostrado. 5 Entonces Isaías dijo a Ezequías: Oye la palabra del Señor(F) de los ejércitos: 6 «He aquí, vienen días cuando todo lo que hay en tu casa y todo lo que tus padres han atesorado hasta el día de hoy, será llevado a Babilonia; nada quedará(G)» —dice el Señor. 7 «Y algunos de tus hijos que saldrán de ti, los que engendrarás, serán llevados(H) y serán oficiales[b] en el palacio del rey de Babilonia(I)». 8 Entonces Ezequías dijo a Isaías: La palabra del Señor que has hablado es buena. Pues pensaba[c]: Porque habrá paz y seguridad[d] en mis días(J).

Envoys From Babylon(A)
39 At that time Marduk-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon(B) sent Hezekiah letters and a gift, because he had heard of his illness and recovery. 2 Hezekiah received the envoys(C) gladly and showed them what was in his storehouses—the silver, the gold,(D) the spices, the fine olive oil—his entire armory and everything found among his treasures.(E) There was nothing in his palace or in all his kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.
3 Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked, “What did those men say, and where did they come from?”
“From a distant land,(F)” Hezekiah replied. “They came to me from Babylon.”
4 The prophet asked, “What did they see in your palace?”
“They saw everything in my palace,” Hezekiah said. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
5 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word(G) of the Lord Almighty: 6 The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your predecessors have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon.(H) Nothing will be left, says the Lord. 7 And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.(I)”
8 “The word of the Lord you have spoken is good,(J)” Hezekiah replied. For he thought, “There will be peace and security in my lifetime.(K)”

39 Poco después, el rey de Babilonia (Merodac Baladán, hijo de Baladán) envió un regalo y saludos a Ezequías, pues había oído de la grave enfermedad que lo había aquejado y también que ya estaba restablecido. 2 Ezequías se lo agradeció y llevó a los enviados de Babilonia a recorrer el palacio y les mostró la casa del tesoro repleto de plata, oro, especias y perfumes. Los llevó también a la sala de sus piedras preciosas y desplegó ante ellos todos sus tesoros, sin ocultarles nada.
3 Entonces el profeta Isaías vino a donde estaba el rey y le dijo:
―¿Qué te dijeron? ¿De dónde son?
―De la lejana Babilonia —respondió Ezequías.
4 ―¿Cuánto vieron? —preguntó Isaías. Y Ezequías respondió:
―Les mostré todo cuanto tengo, todos mis inestimables tesoros.
5 Entonces Isaías le dijo:
―Escucha este mensaje del Señor Todopoderoso: 6 El día viene en que todo cuanto posees, todos los tesoros acumulados por tus padres, serán llevados a Babilonia. No dejarán nada. 7 Y algunos de tus propios hijos serán tomados como esclavos; sí, serán eunucos en el palacio del rey de Babilonia.
8 ―Está bien —replicó Ezequías—, todo lo que el Señor dice es bueno. ¡Por lo menos habrá paz en mis días!

39 At (B)that time [a]Merodach-Baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that he had been sick and had recovered. 2 (C)And Hezekiah was pleased with them, and showed them the house of his treasures—the silver and gold, the spices and precious ointment, and all his armory—all that was found among his treasures. There was nothing in his house or in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.
3 Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?”
So Hezekiah said, “They came to me from a (D)far country, from Babylon.”
4 And he said, “What have they seen in your house?”
So Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.”
5 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the Lord of hosts: 6 ‘Behold, the days are coming (E)when all that is in your house, and what your fathers have accumulated until this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left,’ says the Lord. 7 ‘And they shall take away some of your (F)sons who will descend from you, whom you will beget; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’ ”
8 So Hezekiah said to Isaiah, (G)“The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good!” For he said, “At least there will be peace and truth in my days.”
