Palabra de Dios para Todos
Castigo para Jerusalén y Judá
3 ¡Ojo! El Soberano SEÑOR Todopoderoso
está a punto de quitarles todo a Jerusalén y a Judá:
Los alimentos, el agua,
2 sus héroes, soldados,
jueces, profetas, adivinos, ancianos líderes,
3 oficiales del ejército, altos funcionarios,
consejeros, sabios y encantadores.
4 Yo les pondré como líderes a unos muchachos,
y unos niños caprichosos los gobernarán.
5 La gente se oprimirá mutuamente,
hasta entre conocidos se atacarán.
El joven no respetará al viejo
y el despreciado será arrogante con el honorable.
6 Cualquiera agarrará a uno
de su propia familia y le dirá:
«Por lo menos tienes con qué vestirte,
sé nuestro jefe y gobierna estas ruinas».
7 Pero el otro le responderá:
«Yo no tengo manera de solucionar esta situación,
en mi casa no hay alimento ni vestido.
No acepto que me pongan de gobernante del pueblo».
8 La ciudad de Jerusalén tropezó,
Judá cayó y se hirió,
porque lo que dicen y hacen está en contra del SEÑOR.
Se rebelan contra la gloria de Dios
9 y presumen de sus pecados,
como pasaba en Sodoma, no los ocultan.
Su pecado se les nota en la cara;
no lo disimulan.
¡Pobres de ellos!
Se han traído el mal a ellos mismos.
10 Afortunados los justos que a ellos sí les va a ir bien,
porque recibirán la recompensa por su honestidad.
11 Pero, ¡pobre del perverso!
Será todo un desastre.
Lo que ellos les hicieron a los demás,
ahora se lo harán a ellos.
12 Unos niños oprimen a mi pueblo,
y mujeres lo gobiernan.
Pueblo mío, tus líderes te extravían
y te llevan por malos caminos.
13 El SEÑOR se levanta para denunciar a las naciones
y juzgar a los pueblos.
14 El SEÑOR entabla un juicio
contra los ancianos líderes
y contra los gobernantes de su pueblo:
«Ustedes han consumido la viña
y se han llevado para su casa las posesiones del pobre.
15 ¿Por qué le hacen daño a mi pueblo
y pisotean a los pobres?»
Todo esto es lo que dice el Señor DIOS Todopoderoso.
Castigo para las mujeres arrogantes
16 El SEÑOR dice: «Las hijas de Sion se han vuelto arrogantes,
andan con la cabeza en alto,
miran con desprecio,
caminan a pasito rápido y corto,
y hacen sonar brazaletes en los pies.
17 Por eso el Señor cubrirá con sarna las cabezas de las hijas de Sion;
el SEÑOR hará que todas ellas quedarán calvas».
18 Ese día, el Señor les quitará todas las joyas: hebillas, diademas, broches, 19 pendientes, pulseras, velos, 20 pañoletas, cadenillas de los pies, cinturones, frasquitos de perfume, amuletos, 21 anillos, argollas para la nariz, 22 ropa elegante, capas, chales, carteras, 23 espejos, telas finas, turbantes y mantillas.
24 En lugar de perfume, habrá mal olor;
en lugar del fino cinturón, un cordel.
En lugar del peinado elegante, una cabeza calva.
En lugar del vestido lujoso, ropa burda de luto.
En lugar de belleza, humillación.
25 Tus hombres serán muertos a espada,
y tus guerreros morirán en batalla.
26 Habrá llanto y tristeza a las puertas de la ciudad,
la cual estará como una mujer abandonada, sentada en el suelo.

Judgment on Judah and Jerusalem
3 For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts,
(A)Takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah
(B)The[a] stock and the store,
The whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water;
2 (C)The mighty man and the man of war,
The judge and the prophet,
And the diviner and the elder;
3 The captain of fifty and the [b]honorable man,
The counselor and the skillful artisan,
And the expert enchanter.
4 “I will give (D)children[c] to be their princes,
And [d]babes shall rule over them.
5 The people will be oppressed,
Every one by another and every one by his neighbor;
The child will be insolent toward the [e]elder,
And the [f]base toward the honorable.”
6 When a man takes hold of his brother
In the house of his father, saying,
“You have clothing;
You be our ruler,
And let these ruins be under your [g]power,”
7 In that day he will protest, saying,
“I cannot cure your ills,
For in my house is neither food nor clothing;
Do not make me a ruler of the people.”
8 For (E)Jerusalem stumbled,
And Judah is fallen,
Because their tongue and their doings
Are against the Lord,
To provoke the eyes of His glory.
9 The look on their countenance witnesses against them,
And they declare their sin as (F)Sodom;
They do not hide it.
Woe to their soul!
For they have brought evil upon themselves.
10 “Say to the righteous (G)that it shall be well with them,
(H)For they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Woe to the wicked! (I)It shall be ill with him,
For the reward of his hands shall be [h]given him.
12 As for My people, children are their oppressors,
And women rule over them.
O My people! (J)Those who lead you [i]cause you to err,
And destroy the way of your paths.”
Oppression and Luxury Condemned
13 The Lord stands up (K)to [j]plead,
And stands to judge the people.
14 The Lord will enter into judgment
With the elders of His people
And His princes:
“For you have [k]eaten up (L)the vineyard;
The plunder of the poor is in your houses.
15 What do you mean by (M)crushing My people
And grinding the faces of the poor?”
Says the Lord God of hosts.
16 Moreover the Lord says:
“Because the daughters of Zion are haughty,
And walk with [l]outstretched necks
And [m]wanton eyes,
Walking and [n]mincing as they go,
Making a jingling with their feet,
17 Therefore the Lord will strike with (N)a scab
The crown of the head of the daughters of Zion,
And the Lord will (O)uncover their secret parts.”
18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery:
The jingling anklets, the [o]scarves, and the (P)crescents;
19 The pendants, the bracelets, and the veils;
20 The headdresses, the leg ornaments, and the headbands;
The perfume boxes, the charms,
21 and the rings;
The nose jewels,
22 the festal apparel, and the mantles;
The outer garments, the purses,
23 and the mirrors;
The fine linen, the turbans, and the robes.
24 And so it shall be:
Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench;
Instead of a sash, a rope;
Instead of well-set hair, (Q)baldness;
Instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth;
And [p]branding instead of beauty.
25 Your men shall fall by the sword,
And your [q]mighty in the war.

Judgment Comes to Judah’s Leaders
3 “Note this! The Lord God of the Heavenly Armies
is taking away from Jerusalem and Judah
everything that your society needs—[a]
all food supplies
and all water supplies,
2 the mighty man
and the warrior,
the judge
and the prophet,
the fortune-teller
and the elder,
3 the commander of fifty
and the man of rank,
and the counselor, the expert magician,
and the medium.
4 “I will make youths their princes,
and infants will rule over them.
5 People will oppress one another—
It will be man against man
and neighbor against neighbor.
The young will be disrespectful to the old,
and the worthless to the honorable.
6 “For a man will grab his brother
in his own father’s house,
and say, ‘You have a cloak,
so you be our leader,
and this heap of ruins
will be under your rule!’
7 “But[b] at that time,[c] he’ll protest![d]
He’ll say, ‘I won’t be your healer.
I have neither food nor clothing in my house!
You’re not going to make me a leader of the people!’
8 “For Jerusalem has stumbled,
and Judah has fallen,
because what they say and do opposes[e] the Lord;
they keep defying him.[f]
9 “The expressions on their faces give them away.[g]
They parade their sin around like Sodom;
they don’t even try to[h] hide it.
How horrible it will be for them,
because they have brought disaster on themselves!”
Encouragement to the Righteous
10 “Tell[i] the righteous that things will go well,
because they will enjoy[j] the fruit of their actions.”
Warning to the Wicked
11 “How terrible it will be for the wicked!
Disaster is headed their way,
because what they did with their hand[k] will be repaid[l] to them.
12 “As for my people, children[m] are their oppressors,
and women rule over them.
My people, your leaders are misleading you—
they’re giving you confusing directions.”[n]
When God Goes to Court
13 The Lord is taking his place to argue his case;
he’s standing up to judge the people.
14 The Lord will go to court[o]
to oppose[p] the elders and princes of his people:
“You’re the ones who have been devouring the vineyard,
the plunder of the poor is in your own houses!
15 How dare you crush[q] my people
as you grind down the face of the poor?”
declares the Lord God of the Heavenly Armies.[r]
Judgment of Jerusalem’s Women
16 The Lord also says:
“Because Zion’s women are so haughty,
and walk with outstretched necks,
flirting with their eyes,
prancing[s] along as they walk,
and making tinkling noises with their ankle bracelets,[t]
17 therefore the Lord[u] will afflict sores
on the heads of Zion’s women,
and the Lord[v] will expose their private parts.
18 “At that time,[w] the Lord[x] will take away the finery of the ankle bracelets, headbands, crescents, 19 pendants, bracelets, veils, 20 headdresses, armlets, sashes, perfume boxes, charms, 21 signet rings, nose rings, 22 fine robes, capes,[y] purses, 23 mirrors, linen garments, tiaras, and veils.
24 “And it will come about that instead of fragrance
there will be[z] a stench;
instead of a belt, a rope;
instead of well-set hair, baldness;
instead of a fine robe, sackcloth;
and instead of beauty, shame.[aa]
25 Your men will die violently,[ab]
while your forces[ac] fall[ad] in battle
26 and her gates lament and mourn.
Ravaged, she will sit on the ground.”
