3 PORQUE he aquí que el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos quita de Jerusalem y de Judá el sustentador y el fuerte, todo sustento de pan y todo socorro de agua;
2 El valiente y el hombre de guerra, el juez y el profeta, el adivino y el anciano;
3 El capitán de cincuenta, y el hombre de respeto, y el consejero, y el artífice excelente, y el hábil orador.
4 Y pondréles mozos por príncipes, y muchachos serán sus señores.
5 Y el pueblo hará violencia los unos á los otros, cada cual contra su vecino: el mozo se levantará contra el viejo, y el villano contra el noble.
6 Cuando alguno trabare de su hermano, de la familia de su padre, y le dijere, Que vestir tienes, tú serás nuestro príncipe, y sea en tu mano esta ruina;
7 El jurará aquel día, diciendo: No tomaré ese cuidado; porque en mi casa ni hay pan, ni qué vestir: no me hagáis príncipe del pueblo.
8 Pues arruinada está Jerusalem, y Judá ha caído; porque la lengua de ellos y sus obras han sido contra Jehová, para irritar los ojos de su majestad.
9 La apariencia del rostro de ellos los convence: que como Sodoma predican su pecado, no lo disimulan. Ay del alma de ellos! porque allegaron mal para sí.
10 Decid al justo que le irá bien: porque comerá de los frutos de sus manos.
11 Ay del impío! mal le irá: porque según las obras de sus manos le será pagado.
12 Los exactores de mi pueblo son muchachos, y mujeres se enseñorearon de él. Pueblo mío, los que te guían te engañan, y tuercen la carrera de tus caminos.
13 Jehová está en pie para litigar, y está para juzgar los pueblos.
14 Jehová vendrá á juicio contra los ancianos de su pueblo y contra sus príncipes; porque vosotros habéis devorado la viña, y el despojo del pobre está en vuestras casas.
15 ¿Qué pensáis vosotros que majáis mi pueblo, y moléis las caras de los pobres? dice el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos.
16 Asimismo dice Jehová: Por cuanto las hijas de Sión se ensoberbecen, y andan cuellierguidas y los ojos descompuestos; cuando andan van danzando, y haciendo son con los pies:
17 Por tanto, pelará el Señor la mollera de las hijas de Sión, y Jehová descubrirá sus vergüenzas.
18 Aquel día quitará el Señor el atavío de los calzados, y las redecillas, y las lunetas;
19 Los collares, y los joyeles, y los brazaletes;
20 Las escofietas, y los atavíos de las piernas, los partidores del pelo, los pomitos de olor, y los zarcillos;
21 Los anillos, y los joyeles de las narices;
22 Las ropas de remuda, los mantoncillos, los velos, y los alfileres;
23 Los espejos, los pañizuelos, las gasas, y los tocados.
24 Y será que en lugar de los perfumes aromáticos vendrá hediondez; y desgarrón en lugar de cinta; y calvez en lugar de la compostura del cabello; y en lugar de faja ceñimiento de saco; y quemadura en vez de hermosura.
25 Tus varones caerán á cuchillo, y tu fuerza en la guerra.
26 Sus puertas se entristecerán y enlutarán, y ella, desamparada, sentaráse en tierra.

Gericht über Jerusalem und Juda
3 Denn siehe, der Herr, der Herr der Heerscharen,
wird von Jerusalem und Juda wegnehmen
Stab und Stütze,
jede Stütze an Brot
und jede Stütze an Wasser,
2 den Helden und den Kriegsmann,
den Richter und den Propheten, den Wahrsager und den Ältesten,
3 den Hauptmann über fünfzig und den Hochangesehenen,
den Ratsherrn samt dem geschickten Handwerker und den Zauberkundigen.
4 Und ich werde ihnen Knaben zu Fürsten geben,
und Buben sollen sie beherrschen.
5 Und die Leute werden sich gegenseitig drängen, einer den andern;
der Junge wird sich empören gegen den Alten
und der Verachtete wider den Vornehmen.
6 Wenn einer alsdann seinen Bruder im Hause seines Vaters festhalten und zu ihm sagen wird:
„Du hast ein Kleid, sei unser Fürst,
und diese Trümmer seien unter deiner Hand!“
7 so wird er schwören und sagen: „Ich kann nicht Wundarzt sein,
und in meinem Haus ist weder Brot noch Kleid;
macht mich nicht zum Fürsten des Volkes!“
8 Denn Jerusalem strauchelt
und Juda fällt,
weil ihre Zungen und ihre Taten wider den Herrn gerichtet sind,
den Augen seiner Majestät zu widerstreben.
9 Der Ausdruck ihres Angesichts zeugt wider sie,
und ihre Sünden künden sie aus wie die Sodomiter und verbergen sie nicht.
Wehe ihren Seelen,
denn sie fügen sich selbst Schaden zu.
10 Saget den Gerechten, daß es ihnen wohl gehen wird;
denn sie werden die Frucht ihrer Taten genießen.
11 Wehe dem Gottlosen! Ihm geht es schlecht;
denn er wird den Lohn seiner Tat bekommen!
12 Mein Volk wird von Kindern bedrückt,
und Weiber beherrschen es.
Mein Volk, deine Führer verführen dich
und haben den Weg verwüstet, den du wandeln sollst.
13 Der Herr tritt auf, um zu rechten,
und steht da, um die Völker zu richten.
14 Der Herr geht ins Gericht
mit den Ältesten des Volkes und mit seinen Fürsten:
Ihr habt den Weinberg verderbt!
Der Raub des Armen ist in euren Häusern!
15 Warum zertretet ihr mein Volk
und unterdrückt die Person der Elenden?
spricht der Herr, der Herr der Heerscharen.
16 Und der Herr sprach: Weil die Töchter Zions stolz geworden sind
und mit emporgerecktem Hals einhergehen
und herausfordernde Blicke werfen;
weil sie trippelnd einhergehen und mit ihren Fußspangen klirren,
17 so wird der Herr den Scheitel der Töchter Zions kahl machen,
und der Herr wird ihre Scham entblößen.
18 An jenem Tage wird der Herr die Zierde der Fußspangen, der Stirnbänder[a] und Möndchen[b] wegnehmen, 19 die Ohrgehänge, die Armspangen, die Schleier, die Turbane, 20 die Schrittfesseln und die Gürtel, die Riechfläschchen und die Amulette, 21 die Fingerringe und die Nasenringe, 22 die Feierkleider und die Mäntel, die Überwürfe und die Täschchen; 23 die Spiegel und Hemden, die Hüte und die Schleier; 24 und statt des Wohlgeruches gibt es Moder, statt des Gürtels einen Strick, statt der gekräuselten Haare eine Glatze, statt des Prunkgewandes einen engen Sack, und ein Brandmal statt der Schönheit.
25 Deine Männer werden durchs Schwert fallen
und deine Helden im Krieg.
26 Ihre Tore werden seufzen und trauern,
und sie wird ausgeplündert auf der Erde sitzen.

3 For, behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water.
2 The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3 The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
6 When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
7 In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 The Lord standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
14 The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord God of hosts.
16 Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.
18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21 The rings, and nose jewels,
22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

Judgment on Judah and Jerusalem
3 For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts,
(A)Takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah
(B)The[a] stock and the store,
The whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water;
2 (C)The mighty man and the man of war,
The judge and the prophet,
And the diviner and the elder;
3 The captain of fifty and the [b]honorable man,
The counselor and the skillful artisan,
And the expert enchanter.
4 “I will give (D)children[c] to be their princes,
And [d]babes shall rule over them.
5 The people will be oppressed,
Every one by another and every one by his neighbor;
The child will be insolent toward the [e]elder,
And the [f]base toward the honorable.”
6 When a man takes hold of his brother
In the house of his father, saying,
“You have clothing;
You be our ruler,
And let these ruins be under your [g]power,”
7 In that day he will protest, saying,
“I cannot cure your ills,
For in my house is neither food nor clothing;
Do not make me a ruler of the people.”
8 For (E)Jerusalem stumbled,
And Judah is fallen,
Because their tongue and their doings
Are against the Lord,
To provoke the eyes of His glory.
9 The look on their countenance witnesses against them,
And they declare their sin as (F)Sodom;
They do not hide it.
Woe to their soul!
For they have brought evil upon themselves.
10 “Say to the righteous (G)that it shall be well with them,
(H)For they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Woe to the wicked! (I)It shall be ill with him,
For the reward of his hands shall be [h]given him.
12 As for My people, children are their oppressors,
And women rule over them.
O My people! (J)Those who lead you [i]cause you to err,
And destroy the way of your paths.”
Oppression and Luxury Condemned
13 The Lord stands up (K)to [j]plead,
And stands to judge the people.
14 The Lord will enter into judgment
With the elders of His people
And His princes:
“For you have [k]eaten up (L)the vineyard;
The plunder of the poor is in your houses.
15 What do you mean by (M)crushing My people
And grinding the faces of the poor?”
Says the Lord God of hosts.
16 Moreover the Lord says:
“Because the daughters of Zion are haughty,
And walk with [l]outstretched necks
And [m]wanton eyes,
Walking and [n]mincing as they go,
Making a jingling with their feet,
17 Therefore the Lord will strike with (N)a scab
The crown of the head of the daughters of Zion,
And the Lord will (O)uncover their secret parts.”
18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery:
The jingling anklets, the [o]scarves, and the (P)crescents;
19 The pendants, the bracelets, and the veils;
20 The headdresses, the leg ornaments, and the headbands;
The perfume boxes, the charms,
21 and the rings;
The nose jewels,
22 the festal apparel, and the mantles;
The outer garments, the purses,
23 and the mirrors;
The fine linen, the turbans, and the robes.
24 And so it shall be:
Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench;
Instead of a sash, a rope;
Instead of well-set hair, (Q)baldness;
Instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth;
And [p]branding instead of beauty.
25 Your men shall fall by the sword,
And your [q]mighty in the war.
