Juicio sobre Jerusalén y Judá
3 ¡Presten atención!
El Señor, el Señor de los Ejércitos,
retira de Jerusalén y de Judá
todo apoyo y sustento:
toda provisión de pan, toda provisión de agua.
2 Él retira al valiente y al guerrero,
al juez y al profeta,
al adivino y al anciano,
3 al capitán de cincuenta y al dignatario,
al consejero, al artesano experto y al hábil encantador.
4 Les pondré como oficiales a muchachos
y los gobernarán niños caprichosos.
5 El pueblo se oprimirá a sí mismo:
hombre contra hombre, vecino contra vecino,
joven contra anciano,
plebeyo contra noble.
6 Entonces un hombre tomará a su hermano
en la casa de su padre y dirá:
«Sé nuestro líder, pues tienes un manto;
¡hazte cargo de este montón de ruinas!».
7 Pero entonces el otro protestará:
«Yo no soy médico
y en mi casa no hay pan ni manto;
¡no me hagas líder del pueblo!».
8 Jerusalén se tambalea,
Judá se derrumba,
porque su hablar y su actuar son contrarios al Señor:
¡desafían su gloriosa presencia!
9 Su propio descaro los acusa
y, como Sodoma, se jactan de su pecado;
¡ni siquiera lo disimulan!
¡Ay de ellos,
porque causan su propia desgracia!
10 Díganle al justo que le irá bien,
pues gozará del fruto de sus acciones.
11 ¡Ay del malvado,
pues le irá mal!
¡Según la obra de sus manos
se le pagará!
12 ¡Pobre pueblo mío, oprimido por niños
y gobernado por mujeres!
¡Pobre pueblo mío, extraviado por tus guías,
que tuercen el curso de tu senda!
13 El Señor toma su lugar en la corte;
se levanta para enjuiciar al pueblo.
14 El Señor entra en juicio
contra los jefes y líderes de su pueblo:
«¡Ustedes han arruinado la viña
y el despojo del pobre está en sus casas!
15 ¿Con qué derecho aplastan a mi pueblo
y trituran el rostro de los pobres?»,
afirma el Señor, el Señor de los Ejércitos.
16 El Señor dice:
«Las hijas de Sión son tan orgullosas
que caminan con el cuello estirado,
con ojos seductores y pasitos cortos,
haciendo sonar los adornos de sus pies.
17 Por eso el Señor cubrirá de sarna la cabeza de las hijas de Sión;
el Señor las dejará completamente calvas».
18 En aquel día, el Señor arrancará todo adorno: hebillas, diademas, collares, 19 pendientes, pulseras, velos, 20 adornos de la cabeza, cadenillas de los pies, cinturones, frasquitos de perfume, amuletos, 21 anillos, argollas para la nariz, 22 ropas de gala, mantos, capas, bolsos, 23 espejos, telas finas, turbantes y mantillas.
24 Habrá pestilencia en vez de perfume,
soga en vez de cinturón,
calvicie en vez de peinado elegante,
ropa de luto en vez de trajes lujosos,
vergüenza[a] en vez de belleza.
25 Tus hombres caerán a filo de espada,
y tus valientes, en el campo de batalla.
26 Las puertas de la ciudad gemirán y se vestirán de luto;
desolada, la ciudad se sentará en el suelo.

Castigo de Judá y Jerusalén
3 ¡Fíjense bien! El Señor todopoderoso
les quitará a Jerusalén y a Judá
toda clase de proveedores
y toda provisión de pan y de agua.
2 Hará desaparecer al valiente, al guerrero,
al juez, al profeta, al adivino, al anciano,
3 al capitán, al aristócrata,
al consejero, al mago y al brujo,
4 y les pondrá por jefes a unos muchachos;
unos chiquillos los gobernarán.
5 La situación será tal en el pueblo,
que unos a otros, aun entre amigos, se atacarán.
Los jóvenes la emprenderán contra los viejos,
los despreciados contra la gente importante.
6 Tanto que un hermano tomará a otro en la casa de su padre
y le dirá: «Tú al menos tienes ropa que ponerte;
sé, pues, nuestro jefe; gobierna este montón de ruinas.»
7 Y el otro le responderá:
«Yo no puedo remediar esos males,
en mi casa no tengo comida ni ropa que ponerme.
No me hagan jefe del pueblo.»
8 Ciertamente Jerusalén se derrumba,
Judá se queda en ruinas,
porque allí se dicen y hacen cosas contra el Señor,
cosas que ofenden su majestad.
9 Su mismo descaro los acusa;
no ocultan sus pecados;
igual que Sodoma, los hacen saber a todo el mundo.
¡Ay de ellos, pues preparan su propio castigo!
10 Dichoso el justo, porque le irá bien
y gozará del fruto de sus acciones.
11 ¡Ay del malvado, pues le irá mal!
Dios le pagará según sus propias acciones.
12 Un chiquillo es el tirano de mi pueblo;
el gobierno está en manos de mujeres.
Tus dirigentes te engañan, pueblo mío,
te llevan por camino equivocado.
13 El Señor se ha preparado para juzgar,
está listo para enjuiciar a su pueblo.
14 El Señor llamará a juicio, y dirá
a los ancianos y a los jefes del pueblo:
«Ustedes han estado destruyendo mi viñedo;
han robado a los pobres,
y lo que roban lo guardan en sus casas.
15 ¿Con qué derecho oprimen a mi pueblo
y pisotean la cara a los pobres?»
Lo afirma el Señor todopoderoso.
Castigo a las mujeres de Jerusalén
16 El Señor dice también:
«A las mujeres de Sión, que son orgullosas,
que andan con la cabeza levantada,
mirando con insolencia,
caminando con pasitos cortos
y haciendo sonar los adornos de los pies,
17 en castigo las dejaré calvas por la tiña
y pondré su desnudez al descubierto.»
18 En aquel día,
el Señor hará desaparecer todos los adornos:
los adornos de los pies, las diademas, las lunetas,
19 los pendientes, los brazaletes y los velos,
20 las bandas de la cabeza, las cadenitas de los pies,
los cinturones, los frasquitos de perfume y los amuletos,
21 los anillos, los adornos de la nariz,
22 los vestidos elegantes, los mantos, los chales y los bolsos,
23 los espejos, las telas finas,
los turbantes y las mantillas.
24 En vez de perfume habrá pestilencia;
en vez de cinturón, una soga;
en vez de elegante peinado, la cabeza calva;
en vez de finos vestidos, ropa áspera;
en vez de belleza, una marca con hierro candente.
25 Tus hombres caerán en la guerra,
tus guerreros morirán en la batalla.
26 La ciudad llorará y se pondrá de luto,
y quedará en completo abandono.

Judgment on Jerusalem and Judah
3 See now, the Lord,
the Lord Almighty,
is about to take from Jerusalem and Judah
both supply and support:(A)
all supplies of food(B) and all supplies of water,(C)
2 the hero and the warrior,(D)
the judge and the prophet,
the diviner(E) and the elder,(F)
3 the captain of fifty(G) and the man of rank,(H)
the counselor, skilled craftsman(I) and clever enchanter.(J)
4 “I will make mere youths their officials;
children will rule over them.”(K)
5 People will oppress each other—
man against man, neighbor against neighbor.(L)
The young will rise up against the old,
the nobody against the honored.
6 A man will seize one of his brothers
in his father’s house, and say,
“You have a cloak, you be our leader;
take charge of this heap of ruins!”
7 But in that day(M) he will cry out,
“I have no remedy.(N)
I have no food(O) or clothing in my house;
do not make me the leader of the people.”(P)
8 Jerusalem staggers,
Judah is falling;(Q)
their words(R) and deeds(S) are against the Lord,
defying(T) his glorious presence.
9 The look on their faces testifies(U) against them;
they parade their sin like Sodom;(V)
they do not hide it.
Woe to them!
They have brought disaster(W) upon themselves.
10 Tell the righteous it will be well(X) with them,
for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.(Y)
11 Woe to the wicked!(Z)
Disaster(AA) is upon them!
They will be paid back(AB)
for what their hands have done.(AC)
12 Youths(AD) oppress my people,
women rule over them.
My people, your guides lead you astray;(AE)
they turn you from the path.
13 The Lord takes his place in court;(AF)
he rises to judge(AG) the people.
14 The Lord enters into judgment(AH)
against the elders and leaders of his people:
“It is you who have ruined my vineyard;
the plunder(AI) from the poor(AJ) is in your houses.
15 What do you mean by crushing my people(AK)
and grinding(AL) the faces of the poor?”(AM)
declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.(AN)
16 The Lord says,
“The women of Zion(AO) are haughty,
walking along with outstretched necks,(AP)
flirting with their eyes,
strutting along with swaying hips,
with ornaments jingling on their ankles.
17 Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion;
the Lord will make their scalps bald.(AQ)”
18 In that day(AR) the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces,(AS) 19 the earrings and bracelets(AT) and veils,(AU) 20 the headdresses(AV) and anklets and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms, 21 the signet rings and nose rings,(AW) 22 the fine robes and the capes and cloaks,(AX) the purses 23 and mirrors, and the linen garments(AY) and tiaras(AZ) and shawls.
24 Instead of fragrance(BA) there will be a stench;(BB)
instead of a sash,(BC) a rope;
instead of well-dressed hair, baldness;(BD)
instead of fine clothing, sackcloth;(BE)
instead of beauty,(BF) branding.(BG)
25 Your men will fall by the sword,(BH)
your warriors in battle.(BI)
26 The gates(BJ) of Zion will lament and mourn;(BK)
destitute,(BL) she will sit on the ground.(BM)

3 For see! The Lord, Adonai-Tzva’ot,
will remove from Yerushalayim and Y’hudah
every kind of support —
all reserves of food and water;
2 heroes and warriors, judges and prophets,
diviners and leaders, 3 captains of fifty,
men of rank and advisers,
skillful magicians and expert enchanters.
4 I will put children in authority;
capriciousness will govern them.
5 People will oppress each other —
everyone his friend, everyone his neighbor.
The young will be insolent toward their elders,
the insignificant arrogant toward the respected.
6 A man will take hold of his brother
in his father’s house and say,
“You have a coat, so rule us!
Take charge of this ruin!”
7 But on that day, he will protest,
“I don’t have a remedy,
I lack food and clothing for my own house;
don’t put me in charge of people!”
8 For Yerushalayim is ruined,
and Y’hudah has fallen;
because their words and deeds defy Adonai,
in open provocation of his glory.
9 Their very look witnesses against them!
They parade their sin, like S’dom;
they don’t even try to hide it —
all the worse for them! —
they bring evil on themselves.
10 Say that it will go well with the righteous,
that they will enjoy the fruit of their actions;
11 but woe to the wicked, it will go badly with him;
for what he has done will be done to him.
12 My people — children oppress them,
and women are ruling over them.
My people! Your guides lead you astray
and obliterate the paths you should follow.
13 Adonai rises to accuse,
he stands to judge the peoples.
14 Adonai presents the indictment
against the leaders and officers of his people:
“It is you who devour the vineyard;
in your houses is plunder taken from the poor.
15 What do you mean by crushing my people
and grinding down the faces of the poor?”
says Adonai Elohim-Tzva’ot.
16 Moreover Adonai says:
“Because Tziyon’s women are so proud,
walking with their heads in the air
and throwing seductive glances,
moving with mincing steps
and jingling their anklets —
17 Adonai will strike the crown of the heads
of Tziyon’s women with sores,
and Adonai will expose their private parts.”
18 On that day Adonai will take away their finery — their anklets, medallions and crescents, 19 their pendants, bracelets and veils; 20 their headbands, armlets, sashes, perfume bottles, amulets, 21 rings and nose-jewels; 22 their fine dresses, wraps, shawls, handbags, 23 gauze scarves, linen underclothes, turbans and capes. 24 Then, there will be
instead of perfume, a stench;
instead of a belt, a rope;
instead of well-set hair, a shaved scalp;
instead of a rich robe, a sackcloth skirt;
and a slave-brand instead of beauty.
25 Your men will fall by the sword
and your warriors in battle.
26 Her gates will lament and mourn;
ravaged, she will sit on the ground.
