Cántico de alabanza por el favor de Jehová
25 Jehová, tú eres mi Dios;
te exaltaré, alabaré tu nombre,
porque has hecho maravillas;
tus consejos antiguos son verdad y firmeza.
2 Porque convertiste la ciudad en escombros,
la ciudad fortificada, en ruina,
y el alcázar de los extranjeros ya no será ciudad
ni nunca más será reedificado.
3 Por esto te glorificará el pueblo fuerte,
te temerá la ciudad de gente poderosa.
4 Porque fuiste fortaleza para el pobre,
fortaleza para el necesitado en su aflicción,
refugio contra la tormenta,
sombra contra el calor;
porque el ímpetu de los violentos
es como una tormenta que se abate contra el muro.
5 Como el calor en lugar seco,
así humillarás el orgullo de los extranjeros;
y como calor debajo de una nube,
harás marchitar el renuevo de los poderosos.
6 Y Jehová de los ejércitos
hará en este monte a todos los pueblos
banquete de manjares suculentos,
banquete de vinos refinados,
de sustanciosos tuétanos
y vinos generosos.
7 Y destruirá en este monte
la cubierta tendida sobre todos los pueblos,
el velo que envuelve a todas las naciones.
8 Destruirá a la muerte para siempre,
y enjugará Jehová el Señor las lágrimas
de todos los rostros
y quitará la afrenta de su pueblo
de toda la tierra;
porque Jehová lo ha dicho.
9 Se dirá en aquel día:
«¡He aquí, éste es nuestro Dios!
Le hemos esperado, y nos salvará.
¡Éste es Jehová, a quien hemos esperado!
Nos gozaremos y nos alegraremos en su salvación.»
10 Porque la mano de Jehová se posará sobre este monte;
pero Moab será pisoteado en su mismo sitio,
como es pisoteada la paja en el estercolero.
11 Y extenderá sus manos por en medio de él,
como las extiende el nadador para nadar;
y abatirá su soberbia
y la destreza de sus manos.
12 Abatirá la fortaleza de tus altos muros:
la humillará y la echará abajo,
hasta el polvo.

25 Örökkévaló, én Istenem!
Dicsérem neved és magasztallak,
mert csodákat tettél,
melyeket régen elhatároztál,
biztos kézzel vitted véghez terveidet!
2 Nagy városokat leromboltál,
erős várakat romhalmazzá tettél,
kőrakás maradt csak belőlük.
Az idegenek büszke várkastélyát ledöntötted,
fel sem épül soha többé.
3 Félnek téged az erős népek,
hatalmas nemzetek városai tisztelnek és dicsérnek.
4 Erős vára lettél a szegénynek,
biztos védelme a kiszolgáltatott gyengének,
mint hűs árnyék déli hőségben,
mint menedék a viharban;
pedig az erőszakosok haragja úgy zúdult ránk,
mint szélvihar a kőfalra,
5 mint tűző déli napsugár a sivatagra.
Megalázod az idegeneket,
büszke zajongásukat elhallgattatod.
Mint sűrű felhő árnyéka a hőséget,
elnyomóink diadalénekét megszünteted.
Nagy lakoma a Sion hegyén
6 Az Örökkévaló, a Seregek Ura
lakomát készít ezen a hegyen,
vendégséget minden népnek.
Nagy lakomát finom ételekből,
válogatott fogásokból, ízes falatokból,
erős letisztult aszúborból.
7 Megszabadítja az Örökkévaló a népeket
ezen a hegyen a sötét takarótól,
amely arcukat befedte,
a fekete gyászlepeltől,
amely az összes nemzetet beborította.
8 Bizony, elveszti a halált örökre,[a]
s arcukról minden könnyet letöröl Uram, az Örökkévaló!
Népét megszabadítja szégyenétől az egész földön.
Így lesz, mert az Örökkévaló mondja ezt!
9 Azon a napon így énekelnek a megszabadultak:
„Nézzétek! Ő a mi Istenünk, akit vártunk,
benne bíztunk, hogy megment!
Ő az Örökkévaló, akire vártunk!
Örvendezzünk és ujjongjunk szabadítónknak,
10 mert az Örökkévaló fölöttünk tartja kezét ezen a hegyen!
Moábot[b] pedig a saját helyén a sárba tapossa,
mint szalmát a trágyadombon.
11 S bár Moáb kiterjeszti karjait,
mint az úszó, hogy el ne merüljön,
az Örökkévaló mégis megalázza őket,
akárhogy igyekeznek is.
12 Városaik magas kőfalát lerontja,
büszkeségét porig alázza,
kevélységét pedig a földig rombolja.”

Praise to the Lord
25 Lord, you are my God;(A)
I will exalt you and praise your name,(B)
for in perfect faithfulness(C)
you have done wonderful things,(D)
things planned(E) long ago.
2 You have made the city a heap of rubble,(F)
the fortified(G) town a ruin,(H)
the foreigners’ stronghold(I) a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.(J)
3 Therefore strong peoples will honor you;(K)
cities of ruthless(L) nations will revere you.
4 You have been a refuge(M) for the poor,(N)
a refuge for the needy(O) in their distress,
a shelter from the storm(P)
and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless(Q)
is like a storm driving against a wall
5 and like the heat of the desert.
You silence(R) the uproar of foreigners;(S)
as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud,
so the song of the ruthless(T) is stilled.
6 On this mountain(U) the Lord Almighty will prepare
a feast(V) of rich food for all peoples,
a banquet of aged wine—
the best of meats and the finest of wines.(W)
7 On this mountain he will destroy
the shroud(X) that enfolds all peoples,(Y)
the sheet that covers all nations;
8 he will swallow up death(Z) forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears(AA)
from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace(AB)
from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.(AC)
9 In that day(AD) they will say,
“Surely this is our God;(AE)
we trusted(AF) in him, and he saved(AG) us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;
let us rejoice(AH) and be glad in his salvation.”(AI)
10 The hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain;(AJ)
but Moab(AK) will be trampled in their land
as straw is trampled down in the manure.
11 They will stretch out their hands in it,
as swimmers stretch out their hands to swim.
God will bring down(AL) their pride(AM)
despite the cleverness[a] of their hands.
12 He will bring down your high fortified walls(AN)
and lay them low;(AO)
he will bring them down to the ground,
to the very dust.
