Profecía contra Egipto
19 Profecía contra Egipto:
Miren al Señor:
Viene a Egipto montado en veloz nube.
Ante él tiemblan los ídolos de Egipto,
y los egipcios se llenan de terror.
2 «Voy a hacer que los egipcios se dividan —dice el Señor—
y peleen unos contra otros:
amigo contra amigo, ciudad contra ciudad,
reino contra reino.
3 Les haré perder la cabeza,
haré fracasar sus planes.
Entonces consultarán a los ídolos y a los brujos,
a los espíritus de los muertos y a los adivinos.
4 Pero yo pondré a Egipto en poder de un amo duro;
un rey cruel va a gobernarlo.»
Lo afirma el Señor todopoderoso.
5 El agua del Nilo se agotará,
el río quedará completamente seco,
6 los canales despedirán mal olor.
Las corrientes de agua de Egipto
irán disminuyendo hasta secarse,
las cañas y los juncos se marchitarán;
7 los juncales que están al borde del Nilo,
y todos los sembrados que hay en sus orillas,
se secarán y dejarán de existir.
8 Todos los que pescan en el Nilo
se pondrán a gemir y a lamentarse;
los que echan sus redes al agua se entristecerán.
9 Los que trabajan el lino se sentirán desanimados;
las cardadoras y los tejedores se pondrán pálidos;
10 los fabricantes de telas quedarán abatidos,
y todos los artesanos confundidos.
11 ¡Qué tontos son ustedes, jefes de Soan,
los consejeros más sabios de Egipto,
que en realidad son consejeros estúpidos!
¿Cómo se les ocurre decirle al faraón:
«Somos descendientes de sabios,
de reyes de la antigüedad»?
12 ¿Dónde están tus sabios, faraón,
para que te enseñen y te anuncien
los planes que el Señor todopoderoso
tiene contra Egipto?
13 Los jefes de Soan son tontos,
los jefes de Menfis se dejaron engañar,
los jefes de las provincias
han llevado a Egipto por camino falso.
14 El Señor ha puesto en ellos
un espíritu de confusión;
ellos llevan a Egipto por camino falso
en todo lo que hace,
como un borracho que vomita y pierde el equilibrio.
15 Y nadie, sea cabeza o cola,
palmera o junco,
podrá hacer nada por Egipto.
16 En ese día los egipcios parecerán mujeres; se llenarán de miedo y espanto cuando vean que el Señor todopoderoso levanta su mano contra ellos. 17 Los egipcios sentirán terror ante Judá; con sólo recordar su nombre se llenarán de espanto por los planes que el Señor todopoderoso tiene contra Egipto. 18 En ese día habrá en Egipto cinco ciudades que hablarán hebreo y que jurarán fidelidad al Señor todopoderoso. Una de ellas se llamará Ciudad del Sol.
19 En ese día habrá un altar dedicado al Señor en pleno Egipto, y cerca de su frontera se levantará una piedra en honor al Señor. 20 Servirá de señal, para que se recuerde al Señor todopoderoso en el país de Egipto. Cuando griten al Señor pidiendo ayuda contra los que les oprimen, él les enviará un libertador, para que los defienda y los salve. 21 El Señor se dará a conocer a los egipcios, y ellos reconocerán al Señor, le darán culto y le ofrecerán sacrificios y ofrendas. Harán promesas al Señor y las cumplirán. 22 El Señor herirá a Egipto, pero después lo sanará. Ellos se volverán al Señor, y él se compadecerá de ellos y los sanará.
23 En ese día habrá un amplio camino desde Egipto hasta Asiria. Los asirios podrán llegar hasta Egipto y los egipcios hasta Asiria, y los egipcios y los asirios adorarán juntos al Señor.
24 En ese día Israel se colocará a la par con Egipto y Asiria, y será una bendición en medio de la tierra. 25 El Señor todopoderoso los bendecirá, diciendo: «Yo bendigo a Egipto, mi pueblo, a Asiria, obra de mis manos, y a Israel, mi propiedad.»

A Message about Egypt
19 This message came to me concerning Egypt:
Look! The Lord is advancing against Egypt,
riding on a swift cloud.
The idols of Egypt tremble.
The hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear.
2 “I will make Egyptian fight against Egyptian—
brother against brother,
neighbor against neighbor,
city against city,
province against province.
3 The Egyptians will lose heart,
and I will confuse their plans.
They will plead with their idols for wisdom
and call on spirits, mediums, and those who consult the spirits of the dead.
4 I will hand Egypt over
to a hard, cruel master.
A fierce king will rule them,”
says the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
5 The waters of the Nile will fail to rise and flood the fields.
The riverbed will be parched and dry.
6 The canals of the Nile will dry up,
and the streams of Egypt will stink
with rotting reeds and rushes.
7 All the greenery along the riverbank
and all the crops along the river
will dry up and blow away.
8 The fishermen will lament for lack of work.
Those who cast hooks into the Nile will groan,
and those who use nets will lose heart.
9 There will be no flax for the harvesters,
no thread for the weavers.
10 They will be in despair,
and all the workers will be sick at heart.
11 What fools are the officials of Zoan!
Their best counsel to the king of Egypt is stupid and wrong.
Will they still boast to Pharaoh of their wisdom?
Will they dare brag about all their wise ancestors?
12 Where are your wise counselors, Pharaoh?
Let them tell you what God plans,
what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is going to do to Egypt.
13 The officials of Zoan are fools,
and the officials of Memphis[a] are deluded.
The leaders of the people
have led Egypt astray.
14 The Lord has sent a spirit of foolishness on them,
so all their suggestions are wrong.
They cause Egypt to stagger
like a drunk in his vomit.
15 There is nothing Egypt can do.
All are helpless—
the head and the tail,
the noble palm branch and the lowly reed.
16 In that day the Egyptians will be as weak as women. They will cower in fear beneath the upraised fist of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 17 Just to speak the name of Israel will terrorize them, for the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has laid out his plans against them.
18 In that day five of Egypt’s cities will follow the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. They will even begin to speak Hebrew, the language of Canaan. One of these cities will be Heliopolis, the City of the Sun.[b]
19 In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the heart of Egypt, and there will be a monument to the Lord at its border. 20 It will be a sign and a witness that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is worshiped in the land of Egypt. When the people cry to the Lord for help against those who oppress them, he will send them a savior who will rescue them. 21 The Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians. Yes, they will know the Lord and will give their sacrifices and offerings to him. They will make a vow to the Lord and will keep it. 22 The Lord will strike Egypt, and then he will bring healing. For the Egyptians will turn to the Lord, and he will listen to their pleas and heal them.
23 In that day Egypt and Assyria will be connected by a highway. The Egyptians and Assyrians will move freely between their lands, and they will both worship God. 24 In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth. 25 For the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will say, “Blessed be Egypt, my people. Blessed be Assyria, the land I have made. Blessed be Israel, my special possession!”

Proclamation Against Egypt
19 The (A)burden[a] against Egypt.
Behold, the Lord (B)rides on a swift cloud,
And will come into Egypt;
(C)The idols of Egypt will [b]totter at His presence,
And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.
2 “I will (D)set Egyptians against Egyptians;
Everyone will fight against his brother,
And everyone against his neighbor,
City against city, kingdom against kingdom.
3 The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst;
I will destroy their counsel,
And they will (E)consult the idols and the charmers,
The mediums and the sorcerers.
4 And the Egyptians I will give
(F)Into the hand of a cruel master,
And a fierce king will rule over them,”
Says the Lord, the Lord of hosts.
5 (G)The waters will fail from the sea,
And the river will be wasted and dried up.
6 The rivers will turn foul;
The brooks (H)of defense will be emptied and dried up;
The reeds and rushes will wither.
7 The papyrus reeds by [c]the River, by the mouth of the River,
And everything sown by the River,
Will wither, be driven away, and be no more.
8 The fishermen also will mourn;
All those will lament who cast hooks into the River,
And they will languish who spread nets on the waters.
9 Moreover those who work in (I)fine flax
And those who weave fine fabric will be ashamed;
10 And its foundations will be broken.
All who make wages will be troubled of soul.
11 Surely the princes of (J)Zoan are fools;
Pharaoh’s wise counselors give foolish counsel.
(K)How do you say to Pharaoh, “I am the son of the wise,
The son of ancient kings?”
12 (L)Where are they?
Where are your wise men?
Let them tell you now,
And let them know what the Lord of hosts has (M)purposed against Egypt.
13 The princes of Zoan have become fools;
(N)The princes of [d]Noph are deceived;
They have also [e]deluded Egypt,
Those who are the [f]mainstay of its tribes.
14 The Lord has mingled (O)a perverse spirit in her midst;
And they have caused Egypt to err in all her work,
As a drunken man staggers in his vomit.
15 Neither will there be any work for Egypt,
Which (P)the head or tail,
Palm branch or bulrush, may do.
16 In that day Egypt will (Q)be like women, and will be afraid and fear because of the waving of the hand of the Lord of hosts, (R)which He waves over it. 17 And the land of Judah will be a terror to Egypt; everyone who makes mention of it will be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the Lord of hosts which He has (S)determined against it.
Egypt, Assyria, and Israel Blessed
18 In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will (T)speak the language of Canaan and (U)swear by the Lord of hosts; one will be called the City of [g]Destruction.
19 In that day (V)there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the (W)Lord at its border. 20 And (X)it will be for a sign and for a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the Lord because of the oppressors, and He will send them a (Y)Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them. 21 Then the Lord will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will (Z)know the Lord in that day, and (AA)will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to the Lord and perform it. 22 And the Lord will strike Egypt, He will strike and (AB)heal it; they will return to the Lord, and He will be entreated by them and heal them.
23 In that day (AC)there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians will (AD)serve with the Assyrians.
24 In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria—a blessing in the midst of the land, 25 whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria (AE)the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.”
