¹⁹ And beware not to lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, ^(A)all the host of heaven, ^(B)and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.

³ and has gone and ^(A)served other gods and worshiped them, ^(B)or the sun or the moon or any of the heavenly host, ^(C)which I have not commanded,

Spiritism Forbidden

⁹ “When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to ^[a](A)imitate the detestable things of those nations. ¹⁰ There shall not be found among you anyone ^(B)who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one ^(C)who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, ¹¹ or one who casts a spell, ^(D)or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. ¹² For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and ^(E)because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you.

¹⁶ They forsook all the commandments of the Lord their God and made for themselves molten images, even ^(A)two calves, and ^(B)made an ^[a]Asherah and ^(C)worshiped all the host of heaven and ^(D)served Baal.

² Thus says the Lord,

⁴² But God ^(A)turned away and delivered them up to ^[a]serve the ^[b]host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, ‘^(B)It was not to Me that you offered victims and sacrifices ^(C)forty years in the wilderness, was it, O house of Israel?
