9 [a]Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom(A) for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,(B) but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan—
2 The people walking in darkness(C)
have seen a great light;(D)
on those living in the land of deep darkness(E)
a light has dawned.(F)
3 You have enlarged the nation(G)
and increased their joy;(H)
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as warriors rejoice
when dividing the plunder.(I)
4 For as in the day of Midian’s defeat,(J)
you have shattered(K)
the yoke(L) that burdens them,
the bar across their shoulders,(M)
the rod of their oppressor.(N)

9 Le peuple qui marchait dans les ténèbres
a vu une grande lumière,
sur ceux qui habitaient le pays de l'ombre de la mort
une lumière a brillé.[a]
2 Tu rends la nation nombreuse,
tu augmentes sa joie;
elle se réjouit devant toi comme on le fait lors de la moisson,
comme on jubile au partage du butin.
3 En effet, le fardeau qui pesait sur elle,
le gourdin qui frappait son dos,
le bâton de celui qui l'opprimait,
tu les brises comme tu l’as fait lors de la victoire sur Madian.
4 Oui, toute chaussure portée dans la bataille
et tout habit roulé dans le sang
seront livrés aux flammes
pour être réduits en cendres.

he will hide me(C) in the shelter of his sacred tent

above the enemies who surround me;(F)
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice(G) with shouts of joy;(H)
I will sing(I) and make music(J) to the Lord.
7 Hear my voice(K) when I call, Lord;
be merciful to me and answer me.(L)
8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!(M)”
Your face, Lord, I will seek.
9 Do not hide your face(N) from me,
do not turn your servant away in anger;(O)
you have been my helper.(P)
Do not reject me or forsake(Q) me,

the Lord will receive me.

5 car il me protégera dans son tabernacle, le jour du malheur,
il me cachera sous l’abri de sa tente,
il m’élèvera sur un rocher.
6 Déjà ma tête se dresse au-dessus des ennemis qui m’entourent.
J’offrirai des sacrifices dans sa tente avec des cris de joie,
je chanterai, je célébrerai l’Eternel.
7 Eternel, écoute ma voix, car je fais appel à toi,
aie pitié de moi et exauce-moi!
8 Mon cœur dit de ta part:
«Recherchez-moi!»
Je te recherche, Eternel!
9 Ne me cache pas ton visage,
ne repousse pas avec colère ton serviteur!
Tu es mon secours: ne me laisse pas, ne m’abandonne pas,
Dieu de mon salut!
10 Même si mon père et ma mère viennent à m’abandonner,
l’Eternel m’accueillera.
11 Eternel, enseigne-moi ta voie,
conduis-moi dans le sentier de la droiture,
à cause de mes ennemis.
12 Ne me livre pas à la merci de mes adversaires,
car de faux témoins s’attaquent à moi,
des hommes qui ne respirent que la violence.
13 Oh! si je n’étais pas sûr de voir la bonté de l’Eternel
au pays des vivants…

A Church Divided Over Leaders
10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,[a](A) in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you,(B) but that you be perfectly united(C) in mind and thought. 11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household(D) have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”;(E) another, “I follow Apollos”;(F) another, “I follow Cephas[b]”;(G) still another, “I follow Christ.”
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?(H) 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus(I) and Gaius,(J) 15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 (Yes, I also baptized the household(K) of Stephanas;(L) beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize,(M) but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom(N) and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness(O) to those who are perishing,(P) but to us who are being saved(Q) it is the power of God.(R)

10 Je vous supplie, frères et sœurs, par le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, de tenir tous le même langage. Qu'il n'y ait pas de divisions parmi vous, mais soyez parfaitement unis dans le même état d’esprit et dans la même pensée. 11 En effet, mes frères et sœurs, j'ai appris à votre sujet, par l’entourage de Chloé, qu'il y a des rivalités entre vous. 12 Je veux dire par là que chacun de vous affirme: «Moi, je me rattache à Paul!» «Et moi, à Apollos!» «Et moi, à Céphas[a]!» «Et moi, à Christ!» 13 Christ est-il divisé? Paul a-t-il été crucifié pour vous ou est-ce au nom de Paul que vous avez été baptisés? 14 Je remercie [Dieu] de ce que je n’ai baptisé aucun de vous, excepté Crispus et Gaïus. 15 Ainsi, personne ne peut dire que j’ai baptisé en mon nom. 16 J'ai encore baptisé la famille de Stéphanas. Pour le reste, que je sache, je n'ai baptisé personne d'autre.
17 De fait, ce n'est pas pour baptiser que Christ m'a envoyé, c'est pour annoncer l'Evangile, et cela sans recourir à la sagesse du langage, afin que la croix de Christ ne soit pas vidée de sa force. 18 En effet, le message de la croix est une folie pour ceux qui périssent, mais pour nous qui sommes sauvés, il est la puissance de Dieu.

Jesus Begins to Preach
12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison,(A) he withdrew to Galilee.(B) 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum,(C) which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill(D) what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”[a](E)
17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven(F) has come near.”
Jesus Calls His First Disciples(G)
18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee,(H) he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter(I) and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,”(J) Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.(K)
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John.(L) They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.(M)
Jesus Heals the Sick
23 Jesus went throughout Galilee,(N) teaching in their synagogues,(O) proclaiming the good news(P) of the kingdom,(Q) and healing every disease and sickness among the people.(R)

12 Lorsqu'il apprit que Jean avait été arrêté, Jésus se retira en Galilée. 13 Il quitta Nazareth et vint habiter à Capernaüm, ville située près du lac, dans le territoire de Zabulon et de Nephthali, 14 afin que s'accomplisse ce qu'avait annoncé le prophète Esaïe: 15 Territoire de Zabulon et de Nephthali, route de la mer, région située de l'autre côté du Jourdain, Galilée à la population étrangère! 16 Le peuple assis dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière, et sur ceux qui se trouvaient dans le pays de l’ombre de la mort une lumière s'est levée.[a]
17 Dès ce moment, Jésus commença à prêcher et à dire: «Changez d’attitude, car le royaume des cieux est proche.»
18 Comme il marchait le long du lac de Galilée, il vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et son frère André, qui jetaient un filet dans le lac; c’étaient en effet des pêcheurs. 19 Il leur dit: «Suivez-moi et je ferai de vous des pêcheurs d'hommes.» 20 Aussitôt, ils laissèrent les filets et le suivirent. 21 Il alla plus loin et vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et son frère Jean, qui étaient dans une barque avec leur père Zébédée et qui réparaient leurs filets. Il les appela, 22 et aussitôt ils laissèrent la barque et leur père et le suivirent.
23 Jésus parcourait toute la Galilée; il enseignait dans les synagogues[b], proclamait la bonne nouvelle du royaume et guérissait toute maladie et toute infirmité parmi le peuple.
