Kẻ ác hãy ăn năn
59 Quyền năng CHÚA đủ giải cứu ngươi. Ngài có thể nghe ngươi khi ngươi kêu cầu. 2 Nhưng chính điều ác ngươi phân cách ngươi khỏi Thượng Đế mình. Tội lỗi ngươi khiến Ngài quay mặt khỏi ngươi, để không nghe ngươi nữa. 3 Tay ngươi đã giết kẻ khác, ngón tay ngươi đã làm bậy. Môi miệng ngươi nói dối, và lưỡi ngươi nói điều ác. 4 Người nầy thưa kiện người khác một cách bất công, không ai nói thật khi trình bày phần mình. Ai nấy đặt điều tố cáo nhau bằng lời giả dối. Chúng gây chuyện và tạo ra thêm điều ác. 5 Chúng ấp điều ác như ấp trứng rắn độc. Ai ăn nhằm một trong các trứng đó sẽ chết, còn nếu ai đập trứng đó thì một con rắn độc sẽ chui ra.
Chúng nói dối như thể dệt mạng nhện. 6 Mạng nhện chúng nó dệt không thể dùng may áo quần; không thể dùng mạng đó để che thân được.
Những việc chúng làm là ác, chúng dùng tay mình để hại người khác. 7 Chúng hăng hái chạy làm điều ác, và sẵn sàng giết hại người vô tội. Chúng chỉ tơ tưởng điều ác. Nơi nào chúng đặt chân đến cũng gây hư hại và hủy phá.
8 Chúng không biết sống hòa bình là gì, trong đời chúng không biết làm điều phải. Chúng bất lương. Những ai sống như chúng sẽ không bao giờ có hòa bình.
Tội lỗi của Ít-ra-en mang đến khốn đốn
9 Lẽ phải cách xa chúng; sự công chính đã biến mất.
Chúng ta chờ đợi ánh sáng nhưng chỉ thấy bóng tối.
Chúng ta mong ánh sáng chói lọi nhưng chỉ thấy mù mịt.
10 Chúng ta như người mù lần mò theo vách tường,
dò dẫm như không có mắt.
Giữa ánh nắng ban ngày
mà chúng ta vấp ngã như thể ban đêm,
như người chết giữa những kẻ mạnh khoẻ,
11 Chúng ta gầm gừ như gấu,
gù gù than vãn như bồ câu.
Chúng ta tìm công lý nhưng chẳng thấy đâu,
mong được cứu nhưng sự cứu rỗi lánh xa.
12 Chúng ta đã phạm nhiều lỗi lầm đối với Thượng Đế;
tội lỗi chúng ta chứng tỏ chúng ta sai quấy.
Chúng ta biết mình đã nghịch lại Thượng Đế;
chúng ta biết những việc ác mình làm:
13 tức phạm tội và gạt bỏ CHÚA,
quay khỏi Thượng Đế mình,
âm mưu hại người khác và bất vâng phục Thượng Đế,
âm mưu và nói dối.
14 Cho nên chúng ta đã xua đuổi công lý,
không cho lẽ phải đến gần.
Nơi phố chợ không thấy nói đến sự thật;
điều thanh liêm không được phép đặt chân vào thành.
15 Không ai thấy chân lý đâu cả,
và ai không chịu làm điều ác thì bị tấn công.
CHÚA nhìn và không thấy công lý đâu,
nên Ngài rất bất bình.
16 Ngài không tìm được ai để giúp dân chúng,
và hết sức sửng sốt vì không thấy ai giúp đỡ.
Nên Ngài dùng quyền năng mình để giải cứu dân chúng;
sự công chính của Ngài ban thêm sức cho Ngài.
17 Ngài dùng sự công chính bảo vệ mình như áo giáp.
Ngài đội mũ sắt cứu rỗi trên đầu.
Mặc áo quần của sự trừng phạt
và quấn mình trong chiếc áo của tình yêu sâu đậm [a] của Ngài.
18 CHÚA sẽ báo trả kẻ thù Ngài về những điều chúng làm.
Tỏ cơn thịnh nộ Ngài đối với những kẻ chống nghịch;
trừng phạt những dân cư ở xa cho đáng tội chúng.
19 Rồi dân từ phương Tây sẽ kinh hãi CHÚA,
và dân phương Đông sẽ tôn trọng vinh hiển Ngài.
CHÚA sẽ đến mau chóng như sông chảy cuồn cuộn,
được đưa đẩy bằng hơi thở [b] của CHÚA.
20 “Rồi một Đấng Cứu Rỗi [c] sẽ đến Xi-ôn [d]
để cứu dân Gia-cốp là những kẻ đã quay khỏi tội lỗi,”
CHÚA phán vậy.
21 CHÚA phán, “Đây là giao ước của ta đối với dân nầy: Thần linh và lời phán của ta ban cho các ngươi sẽ không bao giờ rời bỏ ngươi, con cái và dòng dõi ngươi.”

59 Này, chẳng phải tay của CHÚA quá ngắn để cứu
Và tai của Ngài quá nặng để nghe đâu!
2 Nhưng vì sự gian ác các ngươi đã ngăn cách
Các ngươi với Đức Chúa Trời mình;
Và tội lỗi các ngươi đã làm Ngài ẩn mặt
Không nghe các ngươi.
3 Bởi vì bàn tay các ngươi đã bị ô uế trong máu;
Ngón tay các ngươi bị ô uế vì gian ác;
Môi miệng các ngươi đã nói lời dối trá;
Lưỡi các ngươi đã thì thầm điều độc địa.
4 Không ai kiện cáo theo lẽ công chính;
Cũng không ai tranh tụng trong sự chân thật.
Người ta tin cậy vào điều hư không và lời gian dối;
Cưu mang điều tai hại và đẻ ra điều gian ác.
5 Chúng ấp trứng rắn,
Dệt màng nhện.
Ai ăn trứng của chúng sẽ chết;
Còn trứng bị bể sẽ nở ra rắn độc.
6 Màng chúng dệt không thể làm áo mặc;
Chúng không thể che thân bằng đồ chúng làm ra.
Công việc của chúng là công việc gian ác;
Hành động trong tay chúng là bạo lực.
7 Chân chúng chạy đến điều ác
Và nhanh nhẹn làm đổ máu người vô tội.
Tư tưởng của chúng là tư tưởng gian ác;
Chúng đem lại[a] tàn phá và đổ nát trên đường chúng đi.
8 Chúng không biết con đường bình an,
Cũng không có công bình nơi đường lối của chúng.
Chúng tự làm đường lối mình cong quẹo,
Ai đi trên đường ấy không biết được bình an.
9 Cho nên sự công bình xa cách chúng ta;
Và lẽ công chính cũng không đến gần chúng ta được.
Chúng ta trông mong ánh sáng thì đây này, bóng tối!
Chúng ta trông mong sáng láng thì lại bước đi trong tối tăm.
10 Chúng ta mò mẫm men theo tường như người mù,
Như người không có mắt, chúng ta dò dẫm.
Ban ngày giữa trưa mà chúng ta vấp ngã như vào lúc chạng vạng;
Giữa những người mạnh khỏe mà chúng ta như người chết.
11 Tất cả chúng ta gầm gừ như gấu,
Than thở não nề như chim bồ câu.
Chúng ta trông lẽ công bình nhưng không có;
Mong sự cứu rỗi nhưng nó xa cách chúng ta.
12 Vì sự vi phạm của chúng tôi trước mặt Ngài thật nhiều;
Tội lỗi chúng tôi làm chứng nghịch chúng tôi.
Vì sự vi phạm của chúng tôi vẫn ở cùng chúng tôi
Và chúng tôi biết sự gian ác mình.
13 Chúng tôi đã vi phạm, đã phản bội CHÚA
Và quay lưng không theo Đức Chúa Trời mình.
Chúng tôi đã nói lời bạo ngược và phản loạn;
Cưu mang những lời gian dối trong lòng rồi thốt ra.
14 Lẽ công bình bị đẩy lui;
Sự công chính thì đứng xa;
Vì lẽ thật bị vấp ngã nơi quảng trường
Và sự ngay thẳng không thể vào.
15 Lẽ thật không còn nữa
Và kẻ lánh xa điều ác thì bị cướp giật.
CHÚA nhìn thấy và Ngài buồn lòng[b]
Vì không có sự công bình.
16 Ngài thấy không có ai cả;
Và kinh ngạc vì không ai cầu khẩn
Nên Ngài dùng cánh tay mình để cứu rỗi;
Và sự công chính của Ngài hỗ trợ mình.
17 Ngài mặc sự công chính như áo giáp
Và đội mão cứu rỗi trên đầu.
Ngài mặc áo báo trả làm y phục
Và choàng quanh mình bằng áo choàng nhiệt thành.
18 Ngài sẽ báo trả
Tùy công việc chúng làm,
Thịnh nộ cho kẻ chống đối,
Báo oán cho kẻ thù nghịch;
Ngài sẽ báo trả dân các hải đảo.
19 Từ phương tây người ta sẽ kính sợ danh CHÚA;
Những người từ phương đông sẽ kính sợ sự vinh quang Ngài.
Vì Ngài sẽ đến như sông chảy cuồn cuộn
Và hơi thở của CHÚA thúc đẩy nó.[c]
20 “Đấng Cứu Chuộc sẽ đến Si-ôn;
Đến cùng những người thuộc nhà Gia-cốp đã từ bỏ tội lỗi,”
CHÚA tuyên bố như vậy.
21 CHÚA phán: “Về phần Ta, đây là giao ước của Ta với chúng: Thần Ta ở trên ngươi và những lời Ta đặt trong miệng ngươi sẽ không rời khỏi miệng ngươi, cũng như miệng con cái và cháu chắt ngươi từ nay cho đến đời đời.” CHÚA phán như vậy.

Sin, Confession and Redemption
59 Surely the arm(A) of the Lord is not too short(B) to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.(C)
2 But your iniquities have separated(D)
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.(E)
3 For your hands are stained with blood,(F)
your fingers with guilt.(G)
Your lips have spoken falsely,(H)
and your tongue mutters wicked things.
4 No one calls for justice;(I)
no one pleads a case with integrity.
They rely(J) on empty arguments, they utter lies;(K)
they conceive trouble and give birth to evil.(L)
5 They hatch the eggs of vipers(M)
and spin a spider’s web.(N)
Whoever eats their eggs will die,
and when one is broken, an adder is hatched.
6 Their cobwebs are useless for clothing;
they cannot cover themselves with what they make.(O)
Their deeds are evil deeds,
and acts of violence(P) are in their hands.
7 Their feet rush into sin;
they are swift to shed innocent blood.(Q)
They pursue evil schemes;(R)
acts of violence mark their ways.(S)
8 The way of peace they do not know;(T)
there is no justice in their paths.
They have turned them into crooked roads;(U)
no one who walks along them will know peace.(V)
9 So justice is far from us,
and righteousness does not reach us.
We look for light, but all is darkness;(W)
for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows.
10 Like the blind(X) we grope along the wall,
feeling our way like people without eyes.
At midday we stumble(Y) as if it were twilight;
among the strong, we are like the dead.(Z)
11 We all growl like bears;
we moan mournfully like doves.(AA)
We look for justice, but find none;
for deliverance, but it is far away.
12 For our offenses(AB) are many in your sight,
and our sins testify(AC) against us.
Our offenses are ever with us,
and we acknowledge our iniquities:(AD)
13 rebellion(AE) and treachery against the Lord,
turning our backs(AF) on our God,
inciting revolt and oppression,(AG)
uttering lies(AH) our hearts have conceived.
14 So justice(AI) is driven back,
and righteousness(AJ) stands at a distance;
truth(AK) has stumbled in the streets,
honesty cannot enter.
15 Truth(AL) is nowhere to be found,
and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey.
The Lord looked and was displeased
that there was no justice.(AM)
16 He saw that there was no one,(AN)
he was appalled that there was no one to intervene;(AO)
so his own arm achieved salvation(AP) for him,
and his own righteousness(AQ) sustained him.
17 He put on righteousness as his breastplate,(AR)
and the helmet(AS) of salvation on his head;
he put on the garments(AT) of vengeance(AU)
and wrapped himself in zeal(AV) as in a cloak.
18 According to what they have done,
so will he repay(AW)
wrath to his enemies
and retribution to his foes;
he will repay the islands(AX) their due.
19 From the west,(AY) people will fear the name of the Lord,
and from the rising of the sun,(AZ) they will revere his glory.(BA)
For he will come like a pent-up flood
that the breath(BB) of the Lord drives along.[a]
20 “The Redeemer(BC) will come to Zion,(BD)
to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,”(BE)
declares the Lord.
21 “As for me, this is my covenant(BF) with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit,(BG) who is on you, will not depart from you,(BH) and my words that I have put in your mouth(BI) will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.

Rampant Transgression
59 Look! The hand of Yahweh is not too short to save,[a]
and his ear is not too dull to hear.[b]
2 Rather, your iniquities have been barriers[c] between you and your God,
and your sins have hidden his face from you, from hearing.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood,
and your fingers with iniquity.
Your lips have spoken lies,
your tongue speaks wickedness.
4 There is nobody who pleads with[d] justice,
and there is nobody who judges with honesty.
They rely on nothing
and speak vanity.
They conceive trouble
and beget iniquity;
5 they hatch viper eggs,
and they weave a spider web.
One who eats their eggs dies,
and that which is pressed is hatched as a serpent.
6 Their webs cannot become clothing,
and they cannot cover themselves with their works.
Their works are works of iniquity,
and deeds[e] of violence are in their hands.
7 Their feet run to evil,
and they hasten to shed innocent blood.
Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity;
devastation and destruction are in their highways.
8 They do not know the way of peace,
and there is no justice in their firm paths.
They have made their paths crooked for themselves;
everyone who walks[f] in it knows no peace.
9 Therefore justice is far from us,
and righteousness does not reach us.
We wait for light, but[g] look! there is darkness;
for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
10 We grope like the blind along a wall,
and we grope as without[h] eyes.
We stumble at noon as in the twilight;
among the strong we are like the dead.
11 We all groan like bears,
and we coo mutteringly like doves.
We wait for justice, but[i] there is none;
for salvation, but it is far from us.
12 For our transgressions are numerous before you,
and our sins testify[j] against us.
Indeed, our transgressions are with us,
and we know our iniquities:
13 transgressing and denying Yahweh,
and turning away from following[k] our God;
speaking oppression and falsehood,
conceiving and uttering words of deception from the heart.
14 And justice is pushed back,
and righteousness stands afar;
for truth stumbles in the public square,
and straightforwardness is unable to enter,
15 and truth is missing,
and he who turns aside from evil is plundered.
And Yahweh saw,
and it was displeasing in his eyes that there was no justice
16 And he saw that there was no man,
and he was appalled that there was no one who intercedes,
so[l] his arm came to assist him,
and his righteousness was what[m] sustained him.
17 And he put on righteousness like a breastplate,
and a helmet of salvation on his head,
and he put on garments of vengeance for clothing,
and he wrapped himself in zeal as in a robe.
18 According to deeds, so he will repay;
wrath to his enemies, requital to those who are his enemies.[n]
He will repay requital to the coastlands.
19 So[o] they shall fear the name of Yahweh from the west,
and his glory from the sunrise,
for he will come like a narrow stream;
the wind of Yahweh drives it on.
20 “And a redeemer will come to Zion,
to those in Jacob who turn away from transgression,”
declares[p] Yahweh.
21 “And as for me, this is my covenant with them, says Yahweh:
my spirit that is upon you,
and my words that I have placed in your mouth
shall not depart from your mouth,
or[q] from the mouths[r] of your children,[s]
or[t] from the mouths[u] of your children’s children,”[v]
says Yahweh, “from now on and forever.”

59 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
5 They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noon day as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
13 In transgressing and lying against the Lord, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.
19 So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord.
21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.
