1 Corinthians 1:15-20
New American Standard Bible 1995
15 so that no one would say you were baptized [a]in my name. 16 Now I did baptize also the (A)household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other. 17 (B)For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, (C)not in [b]cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.
The Wisdom of God
18 For the word of the cross is (D)foolishness to (E)those who [c]are perishing, but to us who [d]are being saved it is (F)the power of God. 19 For it is written,
“(G)I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.”
20 (H)Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of (I)this age? Has not God (J)made foolish the wisdom of (K)the world?
