8 Sett basunen for din munn[a]! - Som en ørn kommer fienden over Herrens hus, fordi de har brutt pakten med mig og forsyndet sig mot min lov.
2 De skal rope til mig: Min Gud! Vi israelitter kjenner dig.
3 Israel har støtt det gode fra sig - fienden skal forfølge ham.
4 De har valgt sig konger, som ikke kom fra mig, de har satt inn fyrster, uten at jeg visste om det. Av sitt sølv og gull har de gjort sig avgudsbilleder, så de skulde bli utryddet.
5 Motbydelig er din kalv, Samaria! Min vrede er optendt mot dem. Hvor lenge skal renhet synes dem utålelig?
6 For et verk av Israel er den, en kunstner har gjort den, og den er ikke nogen gud; ja, til splinter skal den bli Samarias kalv.
7 For vind sår de, og storm skal de høste; deres korn får ikke aks, deres grøde gir ikke føde; om den gir noget, skal fremmede opsluke det.
8 Israel er opslukt; nu er de blandt folkene lik en ting som ingen bryr sig om;
9 for de drog op til Assur lik et villesel, som går sine egne veier; Efra'im tinger om elskov;
10 men om de enn tinger blandt folkene, vil jeg nu samle dem dit, og de skal begynne å bli færre under storkongens byrder.
11 Fordi Efra'im har gjort sig så mange alter til å synde med, er de blitt ham alter til synd.
12 Om jeg enn skriver ham mine lover i tusentall, så blir de allikevel aktet for noget fremmed.
13 Som offergaver til mig ofrer de kjøtt som de selv eter; Herren har ikke behag i dem. Nu vil han komme deres misgjerning i hu og hjemsøke dem for deres synder - de skal vende tilbake til Egypten.
14 Israel glemte sin skaper og bygget sig palasser, og Juda bygget mange faste byer; men jeg vil sende ild mot hans byer, og den skal fortære hans palasser.

O castigo está próximo
8 Põe a trombeta à tua boca. Ele vem como águia contra a casa do Senhor, porque traspassaram o meu concerto e se rebelaram contra a minha lei. 2 E a mim clamarão: Deus meu! Nós, Israel, te conhecemos. 3 Israel rejeitou o bem; o inimigo persegui-lo-á. 4 Eles fizeram reis, mas não por mim; constituíram príncipes, mas eu não o soube; da sua prata e do seu ouro fizeram ídolos para si, para serem destruídos. 5 O teu bezerro, ó Samaria, foi rejeitado; a minha ira se acendeu contra eles; até quando serão eles incapazes de alcançar a inocência? 6 Porque isso é mesmo de Israel; um artífice o fez, e não é Deus; mas em pedaços será desfeito o bezerro de Samaria.
7 Porque semearam ventos e segarão tormentas; não há seara; a erva não dará farinha; se a der, tragá-la-ão os estrangeiros. 8 Israel foi devorado; agora, está entre as nações como coisa em que ninguém tem prazer. 9 Porque subiram à Assíria, como um jumento montês, por si só; mercou Efraim amores. 10 Todavia, ainda que eles merquem entre as nações, eu os congregarei; já começaram a ser diminuídos por causa da carga do rei dos príncipes. 11 Porquanto Efraim multiplicou os altares para pecar; teve altares para pecar. 12 Escrevi para eles as grandezas da minha lei; mas isso é para eles como coisa estranha. 13 Quanto aos sacrifícios dos meus dons, sacrificam carne e a comem, mas o Senhor não a aceitou; agora, se lembrará da sua injustiça e visitará os seus pecados; eles voltarão para o Egito. 14 Porque Israel se esqueceu do seu Criador e edificou palácios, e Judá multiplicou cidades fortes; mas eu enviarei um fogo contra as suas cidades, e ele consumirá os seus palácios.

Israel’s False Hopes
8 Put the horn to your mouth!(A)
One like an eagle comes
against the house of the Lord,(B)
because they transgress My covenant(C)
and rebel against My law.(D)
2 Israel cries out to Me,(E)
“My God, we know You!”
3 Israel has rejected what is good;(F)
an enemy will pursue him.
4 They have installed kings,(G)
but not through Me.
They have appointed leaders,
but without My approval.
They make their silver and gold(H)
into idols for themselves
for their own destruction.[a]
5 Your calf-idol[b](I) is rejected, Samaria.(J)
My anger burns against them.
How long will they be incapable of innocence?(K)
6 For this thing is from Israel—
a craftsman made it,(L) and it is not God.
The calf of Samaria will be smashed to bits!
7 Indeed, they sow the wind(M)
and reap the whirlwind.(N)
There is no standing grain;
what sprouts fails to yield flour.(O)
Even if they did,
foreigners would swallow it up.
8 Israel is swallowed up!(P)
Now they are among the nations
like discarded pottery.(Q)
9 For they have gone up to Assyria(R)
like a wild donkey going off on its own.
Ephraim has paid for love.(S)
10 Even though they hire lovers among the nations,
I will now round them up,
and they will begin to decrease in number(T)
under the burden of the king and leaders.(U)
11 When Ephraim multiplied his altars for sin,(V)
they became his altars for sinning.
12 Though I were to write out for him
ten thousand points of My instruction,(W)
they would be[c] regarded as something strange.
13 Though they offer sacrificial gifts[d](X)
and eat the flesh,(Y)
the Lord does not accept them.
Now He will remember their guilt(Z)
and punish their sins;(AA)
they will return to Egypt.(AB)
14 Israel has forgotten his Maker(AC) and built palaces;(AD)
Judah has also multiplied fortified cities.
I will send fire on their cities,(AE)
and it will consume their citadels.

8 ¡Haz sonar la trompeta
pues un águila se cierne
sobre la casa del Señor!
Porque han transgredido mi alianza
y se rebelaron contra mi instrucción.
2 Ellos vienen a mí gritando:
“¡Los de Israel te reconocemos como Dios!”.
3 Pero Israel ha rechazado el bien
y el enemigo lo perseguirá.
4 Han creado reyes sin contar conmigo,
han nombrado príncipes sin saberlo yo.
Con su plata y con su oro
se han fabricado ídolos
que causaron su ruina.
5 Me repugna tu becerro, Samaría;
por eso mi cólera ha estallado contra ellos.
¿Hasta cuándo permanecerán impuros?
6 Ese becerro de Samaría
es obra de un artesano israelita;
no es, por consiguiente, Dios
y terminará hecho pedazos.
7 Puesto que siembran viento,
cosecharán tempestad.
Tampoco tendrán mies
ni dará harina la espiga;
y si la da, extranjeros la devorarán.
8 Israel ha sido devorado;
ahora está entre la naciones
como un cacharro inútil.
9 Cuando acudieron a Asiria,
Efraín se compró amantes,
como asno salvaje desbocado.
10 Han sobornado a las naciones,
pero ahora yo los reuniré
y muy pronto temblarán
bajo la opresión del rey soberano.
11 Efraín pecó en muchos altares,
que sólo para pecar le sirvieron.
12 Aunque les haya prescrito mil leyes,
consideran que vienen de un extraño.
13 No cesan de ofrecer sacrificios,
de sacrificar y comer la carne;
pero el Señor no los acepta,
sino que recuerda sus pecados
y castigará sus iniquidades;
tendrán, pues, que volver a Egipto.
14 Olvidó Israel a su Creador
y se ha construido palacios.
También Judá ha multiplicado
sus ciudades fortificadas,
pero yo enviaré a esas ciudades
un fuego que devorará sus baluartes.

Israel to Reap the Whirlwind
8 “Put the trumpet(A) to your lips!
An eagle(B) is over the house of the Lord
because the people have broken my covenant(C)
and rebelled against my law.(D)
2 Israel cries out to me,
‘Our God, we acknowledge you!’
3 But Israel has rejected what is good;
an enemy will pursue him.(E)
4 They set up kings without my consent;
they choose princes without my approval.(F)
With their silver and gold
they make idols(G) for themselves
to their own destruction.
5 Samaria, throw out your calf-idol!(H)
My anger burns against them.
How long will they be incapable of purity?(I)
6 They are from Israel!
This calf—a metalworker has made it;
it is not God.(J)
It will be broken in pieces,
that calf(K) of Samaria.(L)
7 “They sow the wind
and reap the whirlwind.(M)
The stalk has no head;
it will produce no flour.(N)
Were it to yield grain,
foreigners would swallow it up.(O)
8 Israel is swallowed up;(P)
now she is among the nations
like something no one wants.(Q)
9 For they have gone up to Assyria(R)
like a wild donkey(S) wandering alone.
Ephraim has sold herself to lovers.(T)
10 Although they have sold themselves among the nations,
I will now gather them together.(U)
They will begin to waste away(V)
under the oppression of the mighty king.
11 “Though Ephraim built many altars for sin offerings,
these have become altars for sinning.(W)
12 I wrote for them the many things of my law,
but they regarded them as something foreign.(X)
13 Though they offer sacrifices as gifts to me,
and though they eat(Y) the meat,
the Lord is not pleased with them.(Z)
Now he will remember(AA) their wickedness
and punish their sins:(AB)
They will return to Egypt.(AC)
14 Israel has forgotten(AD) their Maker(AE)
and built palaces;
Judah has fortified many towns.
But I will send fire on their cities
that will consume their fortresses.”(AF)
