Hosea 8:11-14
New International Version
11 “Though Ephraim built many altars for sin offerings,
these have become altars for sinning.(A)
12 I wrote for them the many things of my law,
but they regarded them as something foreign.(B)
13 Though they offer sacrifices as gifts to me,
and though they eat(C) the meat,
the Lord is not pleased with them.(D)
Now he will remember(E) their wickedness
and punish their sins:(F)
They will return to Egypt.(G)
14 Israel has forgotten(H) their Maker(I)
and built palaces;
Judah has fortified many towns.
But I will send fire on their cities
that will consume their fortresses.”(J)
Hosea 8:11-14
Lexham English Bible
11 When Ephraim multiplied altars
to expiate sins,
they became to him altars to sin on.
12 I write for him myriads of my instruction;[a]
they are regarded as a strange thing.
13 They offer sacrifices of my choice[b]
and they eat flesh;
Yahweh does not accept them.
Now he will remember their iniquity
and punish their sins;
they will return to Egypt.
14 Israel has forgotten his maker and built palaces,
and Judah has multiplied fortified cities;
but I will send fire on his cities
and it will devour her strongholds.
