¹⁰ “They will eat but not have enough;^(A)
    they will engage in prostitution^(B) but not flourish,
because they have deserted^(C) the Lord
    to give themselves ¹¹ to prostitution;^(D)
old wine^(E) and new wine
    take away their understanding.^(F)
12 My people consult a wooden idol,^(G)
    and a diviner’s rod speaks to them.^(H)
A spirit of prostitution^(I) leads them astray;^(J)
    they are unfaithful^(K) to their God.
¹³ They sacrifice on the mountaintops
    and burn offerings on the hills,
under oak,^(L) poplar and terebinth,
    where the shade is pleasant.^(M)
Therefore your daughters turn to prostitution^(N)
    and your daughters-in-law to adultery.^(O)

¹⁴ “I will not punish your daughters
    when they turn to prostitution,
nor your daughters-in-law
    when they commit adultery,
because the men themselves consort with harlots^(P)
    and sacrifice with shrine prostitutes^(Q)—
    a people without understanding^(R) will come to ruin!^(S)
