¹⁸I will make for you^[a] a covenant on that day with the wild animals, the birds of the air, and the creeping things of the ground, and I will abolish^[b] the bow, the sword, and war from the land, and I will make you^[c] lie down in safety.^(A) ¹⁹And I will take you for my wife forever; I will take you for my wife in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy.^(B) ²⁰I will take you for my wife in faithfulness, and you shall know the Lord.^(C)

International Standard Version

¹⁸I will make a covenant with them at that time,
    a covenant^[a] with the wild animals of the field,
with the birds of the air,
    and with the creatures of the ground.
I will banish^[b] the battle bow, the sword, and war from the earth.
    I will cause my people^[c] to lie down where it is safe.
¹⁹I will make you my wife forever—

I will make you my wife in a way that is righteous,
    in a manner that is just,
by a love that is gracious,
    and by a motive that is mercy.
²⁰I will make you my wife because of my^[d] faithfulness,
    and you will know the Lord.
