16 “And it shall be, in that day,”
Says the Lord,
That you will call Me [a]‘My Husband,’
And no longer call Me [b]‘My Master,’
17 For (A)I will take from her mouth the names of the Baals,
And they shall be remembered by their name no more.
18 In that day I will make a (B)covenant for them
With the beasts of the field,
With the birds of the air,
And with the creeping things of the ground.
Bow and sword of battle (C)I will shatter from the earth,
To make them (D)lie down safely.

19 “I will betroth you to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me
In righteousness and justice,
In lovingkindness and mercy;
20 I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness,
And (E)you shall know the Lord.

21 “It shall come to pass in that day
That (F)I will answer,” says the Lord;
“I will answer the heavens,
And they shall answer the earth.
22 The earth shall answer
With grain,
With new wine,
And with oil;
They shall answer [c]Jezreel.
23 Then (G)I will sow her for Myself in the earth,
(H)And I will have mercy on her who had [d]not obtained mercy;
Then (I)I will say to those who were [e]not My people,
‘You are [f]My people!’
And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’ ”

Then a voice came from the throne, saying, (A)“Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, (B)both[a] small and great!”

(C)And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For (D)the[b] Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for (E)the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And (F)to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, (G)for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

Then he said to me, “Write: (H)‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, (I)“These are the true sayings of God.” 10 And (J)I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, (K)“See that you do not do that! I am your (L)fellow servant, and of your brethren (M)who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the (N)testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Jesus Is Questioned About Fasting(A)

18 (B)The disciples of John and of the Pharisees were fasting. Then they came and said to Him, “Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”

19 And Jesus said to them, “Can the [a]friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast. 20 But the days will come when the bridegroom will be (C)taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days. 21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; or else the new piece pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”
