Yet I am Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt; and thou [a]shalt know no god but me, and besides me there is no saviour. I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought. According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted: therefore have they forgotten me. Therefore am I unto them as a lion; as a leopard will I watch by the way; I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart; and there will I devour them like a lioness; the wild beast shall tear them.

  1. Hosea 13:4 Or, knowest

I am Yahweh your God
    since[a] the land of Egypt;
you know no god except me,
    and no one saves besides me.
I fed you[b] in the desert,
    in the land of drought.
When I fed them,[c] they were satisfied;
    they were satisfied and their heart was lifted up;
        therefore they forgot me.
And I will be like a lion to them;
    I lie in wait beside the way, like a leopard.
I will attack them like a bear robbed of her offspring,
    and I will tear open the covering of their heart;
there I will devour them like a lion,
    like an animal of the field would mutilate them.
