^16 [a] Samaria ^(A)shall bear her guilt,
    because ^(B)she has rebelled against her God;
they shall fall by the sword;
    ^(C)their little ones shall be dashed in pieces,
    and their ^(D)pregnant women ripped open.

⁸ O daughter of Babylon, ^(A)doomed to be destroyed,
    blessed shall he be who ^(B)repays you
    with what you have done to us!
⁹ Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones
    and ^(C)dashes them against the rock!

^16 (A)Their infants will be dashed in pieces
    before their eyes;
their houses will be plundered
    and their wives ravished.

¹⁴ therefore ^(A)the tumult of war shall arise among your people,
    and all your fortresses shall be destroyed,
as ^(B)Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle;
    ^(C)mothers were dashed in pieces with their children.
¹⁵ Thus it shall be done to you, O ^(D)Bethel,
    because of your great evil.
At dawn ^(E)the king of Israel
    shall be utterly cut off.
