7 The days of (A)punishment have come,
The days of (B)retribution have come;
[a]Let Israel know this!
The prophet is a (C)fool,
The [b]inspired person is (D)insane,
Because of the grossness of your (E)wrongdoing,
And because your [c]hostility is so great.
8 Ephraim was a watchman with my God, a prophet;
Yet the snare of a bird catcher is in all his ways,
And there is only [d]hostility in the house of his God.
9 They are (F)deeply depraved
As in the days of (G)Gibeah;
He will (H)remember their guilt,
He will punish their sins.

7 The days of punishment(A) are coming,
the days of reckoning(B) are at hand.
Let Israel know this.
Because your sins(C) are so many
and your hostility so great,
the prophet is considered a fool,(D)
the inspired person a maniac.(E)
8 The prophet, along with my God,
is the watchman over Ephraim,[a]
yet snares(F) await him on all his paths,
and hostility in the house of his God.(G)
9 They have sunk deep into corruption,(H)
as in the days of Gibeah.(I)
God will remember(J) their wickedness
and punish them for their sins.(K)
