Hosea 7:13-16

13 Woe to them, because they have strayed from me!
Destruction to them, because they have rebelled against me!
I myself would redeem them,
but they speak lies against me.
14 They do not cry out to me from their heart,
but they wail on their beds;
because of grain and new wine they lacerate[a] themselves;
they depart from me.
15 And I myself trained
and strengthened their arms;
but they plan evil against me.
16 They turn, not to the Most High,[b]
like a slack bow;
their officials will fall by the sword
because of the anger of their tongue.
This is their scorn[c]
in the land of Egypt.

13 (A)Woe to them, for they have strayed from me!
Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against me!
(B)I would redeem them,
but (C)they speak lies against me.
14 (D)They do not cry to me from the heart,
but (E)they wail upon their beds;
for grain and wine they gash themselves;
they rebel against me.
15 Although (F)I trained and strengthened their arms,
yet they devise evil against me.
16 They (G)return, but not upward;[a]
they are (H)like a treacherous bow;
their princes shall fall by the sword
because of (I)the insolence of their tongue.
This shall be their derision (J)in the land of Egypt.

Destruction to them,

I long to redeem them
but they speak about me(C) falsely.(D)
14 They do not cry out to me from their hearts(E)
but wail on their beds.
They slash themselves,[a] appealing to their gods
for grain and new wine,(F)
but they turn away from me.(G)
15 I trained(H) them and strengthened their arms,
but they plot evil(I) against me.
16 They do not turn to the Most High;(J)
they are like a faulty bow.(K)
Their leaders will fall by the sword
because of their insolent(L) words.
For this they will be ridiculed(M)
in the land of Egypt.(N)
