Yet I have been (A)Yahweh your God
Since the land of Egypt;
And you were not to know (B)any god except Me,
And there is no savior (C)besides Me.
I Myself (D)knew you in the wilderness,
(E)In the land of drought.
As they had their pasture, then they became (F)satisfied,
Indeed, they were satisfied, and their (G)heart became raised up;
Therefore they (H)forgot Me.
So I will be (I)like a lion to them;
Like a (J)leopard I will [a]lie in wait by the wayside.
I will encounter them (K)like a bear robbed of her cubs,
And I will tear open [b]the chest enclosing their heart;
There I will also (L)devour them like a lioness,
As a beast of the field would rip them open.

Yet I have been the Lord your God
    ever since the land of Egypt;
you know no God but me,
    and besides me there is no savior.(A)
It was I who fed[a] you in the wilderness,
    in the land of drought.(B)
When I fed[b] them, they were satisfied;
    they were satisfied, and their heart was proud;
    therefore they forgot me.(C)
So I will become like a lion to them;
    like a leopard I will lurk beside the way.(D)
I will fall upon them like a bear robbed of her cubs
    and will tear open the covering of their heart;
there I will devour them like a lion,
    as a wild animal would mangle them.
