13 The pains of (A)childbirth come upon him;
He is (B)not a wise son,
For [a]it is not the time that he should (C)delay at the opening of the womb.
14 Shall I (D)ransom them from the [b]power of Sheol?
Shall I redeem them from death?
(E)O Death, where are your thorns?
O Sheol, where is your sting?
(F)Compassion will be hidden from My sight.

15 Though he (G)flourishes among the [c]reeds,
An (H)east wind will come,
The wind of the Lord coming up from the wilderness;
And his fountain will (I)become dry
And his spring will be dried up;
It will (J)plunder his treasury of every precious article.

    blowing in from the desert;
his spring will fail
    and his well dry up.(I)
His storehouse will be plundered(J)
    of all its treasures.
