Israel to Reap the Whirlwind

¹¹ And he said, “Who told you that you were naked?^(A) Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?^(B)”

⁵⁹ “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will deal with you as you deserve, because you have despised my oath by breaking the covenant.^{(A) 60} Yet I will remember the covenant^(B) I made with you in the days of your youth,^(C) and I will establish an everlasting covenant^(D) with you. ⁶¹ Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed^(E) when you receive your sisters, both those who are older than you and those who are younger. I will give them to you as daughters,^(F) but not on the basis of my covenant with you.

⁶ When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable^(A) for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband,^(B) who was with her, and he ate it.^(C)
