12 (C)Even if they bring up children,
    I will bereave them till none is left.
(D)Woe to them

Give them (H)a miscarrying womb

15 Every evil of theirs is in (I)Gilgal;
    there I began to hate them.
Because of the wickedness of their deeds
    I will drive them out of my house.
I will love them no more;
    all (J)their princes are (K)rebels.

16 Ephraim is stricken;
    (L)their root is dried up;
    they shall bear no fruit.
Even (M)though they give birth,
    (N)I will put their beloved children to death.
17 (O)My God will reject them

    (P)they shall be wanderers among the nations.

12 And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father, (A)‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or (B)in the ways of Asa king of Judah, 13 (C)but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel and have enticed Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem (D)into whoredom, (E)as the house of Ahab led Israel into whoredom, and also you (F)have killed your brothers, of your father's house, who were better than you, 14 behold, the Lord will bring a great plague on your people, your children, your wives, and all your possessions, 15 and you yourself will have a severe sickness (G)with a disease of your bowels, until your bowels come out because of the disease, day by day.’”

20 Ahab said to Elijah, (C)“Have you found me, O my enemy?” He answered, “I have found you, because (D)you have sold yourself to do what is evil in the sight of the Lord. 21 Behold, I will bring disaster upon you. I will utterly burn you up, and (E)will cut off from Ahab every male, bond or free, in Israel. 22 And I will make your house like (F)the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like (G)the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the anger to which you have provoked me, and because you (H)have made Israel to sin.

22 Thus says the Lord: “Go down to the house of the king of Judah and speak there this word, and say, (A)‘Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, who sits on the throne of David, you, and your servants, and your people who enter these gates. Thus says the Lord: (B)Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And (C)do no wrong or violence (D)to the resident alien, (E)the fatherless, and the widow, nor (F)shed innocent blood in this place. For if you will indeed obey this word, (G)then there shall enter the gates of this house kings who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their servants and their people. But if you will not obey these words, I (H)swear by myself, declares the Lord, that (I)this house shall become a desolation. For thus says the Lord concerning the house of the king of Judah:

“‘You are like Gilead to me,
    like the summit of (J)Lebanon,
yet surely I will make you a desert,
    (K)an uninhabited city.[a]
(L)I will prepare destroyers against you,
    each with his weapons,
(M)and they shall cut down your choicest cedars

“‘And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor, (N)“Why has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?” (O)And they will answer, “Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and worshiped other gods and served them.”’”

Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: (A)“Because I exalted you from among the people and made you leader over my people Israel and (B)tore the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it to you, and yet you have not been (C)like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me with all his heart, doing only that which was right in my eyes, but you have done evil above all who were before you and have gone and (D)made for yourself other gods and (E)metal images, provoking me to anger, and (F)have cast me behind your back, 10 therefore behold, I will bring harm upon the house of Jeroboam and (G)will cut off from Jeroboam every male, (H)both bond and free in Israel, and (I)will burn up the house of Jeroboam, as a man burns up dung until it is all gone. 11 (J)Anyone belonging to Jeroboam who dies in the city the dogs shall eat, and anyone who dies in the open country the birds of the heavens shall eat, for the Lord has spoken it.”’ 12 Arise therefore, go to your house. And henceforth, 15 the Lord will strike Israel as a reed is shaken in the water, and (N)root up Israel out of (O)this good land that he gave to their fathers and scatter them (P)beyond the Euphrates,[a] because they have made their (Q)Asherim, provoking the Lord to anger. 16 And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he sinned and made Israel to sin.”
