⁶ She conceived again and bore a daughter. Then the Lord said to him, “Name her Lo-ruhamah,^[a] for I will no longer have pity on the house of Israel or forgive them.^(A)

The Family of Hosea

² When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take for yourself a wife of prostitution and have children of prostitution, for the land commits great prostitution by forsaking the Lord.”^(A)

¹⁸ Therefore I will act in wrath; my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity, and though they cry in my hearing with a loud voice, I will not listen to them.”^(A)

¹⁴ And I will dash them one against another, parents and children together, says the Lord. I will not pity or spare or have compassion when I destroy them.^(A)

¹³ For judgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.^(A)

²² Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen but God’s kindness toward you, if you continue in his kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off.^(A)

¹⁸ So then he has mercy on whomever he chooses, and he hardens the heart of whomever he chooses.

⁴¹ You are indeed doing what your father does.” They said to him, “We are not illegitimate children; we have one Father, God himself.”^(A)

¹² Then the angel of the Lord said, “O Lord of hosts, how long will you withhold mercy from Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, with which you have been angry these seventy years?”^(A)
