2 ^[a]Say to your brothers, “Ammi,”^[b] and to your sisters, “Ruhamah.”^[c]

¹³ even though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a man of violence. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,^(A)

4 Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart.^(A)

³⁰ Just as you were once disobedient to God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience,^{(A) 31} so also they have now been disobedient in order that, by the mercy shown to you, they also may now^[a] receive mercy.

⁹ Then the Lord said, “Name him Lo-ammi,^[a] for you are not my people, and I am not your God.”^[b]

The Restoration of Israel

^10 [c]Yet the number of the people of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, which can be neither measured nor numbered, and in the place where it was said to them, “You are not my people,” it shall be said to them, “Children of the living God.”^{(A) 11} The people of Judah and the people of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint for themselves one head, and they shall rise up from the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.^(B)

²⁷ My dwelling place shall be over them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.^(A)
