Curación de un cojo

3 Cierto día Pedro y Juan(A) subían al templo a la hora novena[a], la hora de la oración(B). 2 Y había un hombre, cojo desde su nacimiento[b](C), al que llevaban y ponían diariamente a la puerta(D) del templo llamada la Hermosa, para que pidiera limosna(E) a los que entraban al templo. 3 Este, viendo a Pedro y a Juan(F) que iban a entrar al templo, les pedía limosna. 4 Entonces Pedro, junto con Juan, fijando su vista(G) en él, le dijo: «¡Míranos!».

5 Él los miró atentamente[c], esperando recibir algo de ellos. 6 Pero Pedro le dijo: «No tengo plata ni oro, pero lo que tengo te doy: en el nombre de Jesucristo el Nazareno(H), ¡anda[d]!».

7 Y tomándolo de la mano derecha, lo levantó; al instante sus pies y tobillos cobraron fuerza, 8 y de un salto se puso en pie y andaba(I). Entró al templo con ellos caminando, saltando y alabando a Dios.

9 Todo el pueblo lo vio andar y alabar a Dios(J), 10 y reconocieron que era el mismo que se sentaba a la puerta del templo, la Hermosa, a pedir limosna(K), y se llenaron de asombro y admiración por lo que le había sucedido.

Segundo sermón de Pedro

11 Estando el que era cojo aferrado a Pedro y a Juan(L), todo el pueblo, lleno de asombro, corrió al pórtico llamado de Salomón(M), donde ellos estaban. 12 Al ver esto, Pedro dijo al pueblo: «Hombres de Israel, ¿por qué se maravillan de esto, o por qué nos miran así, como si por nuestro propio poder o piedad le hubiéramos hecho andar? 13 El Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob(N), el Dios de nuestros padres(O), ha glorificado a Su Siervo[e] Jesús(P), al que ustedes entregaron(Q) y repudiaron en presencia de Pilato(R), cuando este había resuelto poner a Jesús en libertad(S). 14 Pero ustedes repudiaron al Santo y Justo(T), y pidieron que se les concediera un asesino(U), 15 y dieron muerte al Autor[f](V) de la vida, al que Dios resucitó de entre los muertos(W), de lo cual nosotros somos testigos(X).

16 »Por la fe en Su nombre(Y), es el nombre de Jesús[g] lo que ha fortalecido a este hombre a quien ven y conocen. La fe que viene por medio de Jesús, le ha dado a este esta perfecta sanidad en presencia de todos ustedes. 17 Y ahora, hermanos, yo sé que obraron por ignorancia(Z), lo mismo que sus gobernantes(AA). 18 Pero Dios ha cumplido así lo que anunció de antemano(AB) por boca de todos los profetas: que Su Cristo[h] debía padecer(AC).

19 »Por tanto, arrepiéntanse(AD) y conviértanse, para que sus pecados sean borrados, a fin de que tiempos de alivio vengan de la presencia del Señor(AE), 20 y Él envíe a Jesús, el Cristo designado de antemano para ustedes. 21 A Él el cielo debe recibir[i](AF) hasta el día[j] de la restauración de todas las cosas(AG), acerca de lo cual Dios habló por boca de Sus santos profetas desde tiempos antiguos(AH). 22 Moisés dijo: “El Señor Dios les levantará a ustedes un profeta como yo[k] de entre sus hermanos; a Él prestarán atención en todo cuanto les diga(AI). 23 Y sucederá que todo el que[l](AJ) no preste atención a aquel profeta, será totalmente destruido de entre el pueblo”. 24 Asimismo todos los profetas(AK) que han hablado desde Samuel y sus sucesores en adelante, también anunciaron estos días.

25 »Ustedes son los hijos de los profetas(AL) y del pacto que Dios hizo[m] con sus padres(AM), al decir a Abraham: “Y en tu simiente serán benditas todas las familias de la tierra(AN)”. 26 Para ustedes en primer lugar(AO), Dios, habiendo resucitado(AP) a Su Siervo[n], lo ha enviado(AQ) para que los bendiga, a fin de apartar a cada uno de ustedes de sus iniquidades».

Healing the Lame Beggar

3 Now (A)Peter and John were going up to the temple at the [a]ninth hour, (B)the hour of prayer. 2 And (C)a man who had been lame from his mother’s womb was being carried along, whom they (D)used to set down every day at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, (E)in order to beg [b]alms of those who were entering the temple. 3 When he saw (F)Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms. 4 But Peter, along with John, (G)fixed his gaze on him and said, “Look at us!” 5 And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: (H)In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!” 7 And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. 8 [c](I)With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9 And (J)all the people saw him walking and praising God; 10 and they were taking note of him as being the one who used to (K)sit at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg alms, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Peter’s Second Sermon

11 While he was clinging to (L)Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the so-called [d](M)portico of Solomon, full of amazement. 12 But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why do you gaze at us, as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk? 13 (N)The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, (O)the God of our fathers, has glorified His [e](P)servant Jesus, the one whom (Q)you delivered and disowned in the presence of (R)Pilate, when he had (S)decided to release Him. 14 But you disowned (T)the Holy and Righteous One and (U)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 but put to death the [f](V)Prince of life, the one whom (W)God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are (X)witnesses. 16 And on the basis of faith (Y)in His name, it is [g]the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.

17 “And now, brethren, I know that you acted (Z)in ignorance, just as your (AA)rulers did also. 18 But the things which (AB)God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, (AC)that His [h]Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19 Therefore (AD)repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that (AE)times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; 20 and that He may send Jesus, the [i]Christ appointed for you, 21 (AF)whom heaven must receive until the [j]period of (AG)restoration of all things about which (AH)God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time. 22 Moses said, ‘(AI)The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet [k]like me from your brethren; to Him you shall give heed to everything He says to you. 23 (AJ)And it will be that every (AK)soul that does not heed that prophet (AL)shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ 24 And likewise, (AM)all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and his successors onward, also announced these days. 25 It is you who are (AN)the sons of the prophets and of the (AO)covenant which God [l]made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘(AP)And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ 26 For you (AQ)first, God (AR)raised up His [m]Servant and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways.”

Peter Heals a Lame Beggar

3 One day Peter and John(A) were going up to the temple(B) at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon.(C) 2 Now a man who was lame from birth(D) was being carried to the temple gate(E) called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg(F) from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.

6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,(G) walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping,(H) and praising God. 9 When all the people(I) saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful,(J) and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Peter Speaks to the Onlookers

11 While the man held on to Peter and John,(K) all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade.(L) 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,(M) the God of our fathers,(N) has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over(O) to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate,(P) though he had decided to let him go.(Q) 14 You disowned the Holy(R) and Righteous One(S) and asked that a murderer be released to you.(T) 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead.(U) We are witnesses(V) of this. 16 By faith in the name of Jesus,(W) this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.

17 “Now, fellow Israelites,(X) I know that you acted in ignorance,(Y) as did your leaders.(Z) 18 But this is how God fulfilled(AA) what he had foretold(AB) through all the prophets,(AC) saying that his Messiah would suffer.(AD) 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,(AE) that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah,(AF) who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. 21 Heaven must receive him(AG) until the time comes for God to restore everything,(AH) as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.(AI) 22 For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you.(AJ) 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.’[a](AK)

24 “Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets(AL) who have spoken have foretold these days. 25 And you are heirs(AM) of the prophets and of the covenant(AN) God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’[b](AO) 26 When God raised up(AP) his servant, he sent him first(AQ) to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
