Viaje de Pablo por Macedonia y Grecia
20 Después que cesó el alboroto, Pablo mandó llamar a los discípulos(A), y habiéndolos exhortado, despidiéndose, partió para ir(B) a Macedonia(C). 2 Y después de recorrer aquellas regiones y de haberlos exhortado mucho, llegó a Grecia. 3 Pasó allí tres meses, y habiéndose tramado una conjura en su contra de parte de los judíos(D) cuando estaba por embarcarse para Siria(E), tomó la decisión de regresar por Macedonia(F). 4 Y lo acompañaban Sópater de Berea(G), hijo de Pirro; Aristarco(H) y Segundo de los tesalonicenses(I); Gayo(J) de Derbe(K), y Timoteo(L); Tíquico(M) y Trófimo(N) de Asia[a](O). 5 Pero estos se habían adelantado y nos(P) esperaban en Troas(Q). 6 Nos embarcamos(R) en Filipos(S) después de los días de los panes sin levadura[b](T), y en cinco días llegamos adonde ellos estaban en Troas(U); y allí nos quedamos siete días.
Despedida de Pablo en Troas
7 Y el primer día de la semana(V), cuando estábamos reunidos(W) para partir el pan(X), Pablo les hablaba, pensando partir al día siguiente, y prolongó su discurso[c] hasta la medianoche. 8 Había muchas lámparas(Y) en el aposento alto(Z) donde estábamos reunidos; 9 y estaba sentado en la ventana un joven llamado Eutico; y como Pablo continuaba hablando, Eutico fue cayendo en un profundo sueño hasta que, vencido por el sueño, cayó desde el tercer piso y lo levantaron muerto. 10 Pero Pablo bajó y se tendió sobre él(AA), y después de abrazarlo, dijo: No os alarméis[d], porque está vivo[e](AB). 11 Y volviendo arriba, después de partir el pan(AC) y de comer[f], conversó largamente con ellos hasta el amanecer, y entonces se marchó. 12 Y se llevaron vivo al muchacho, y quedaron grandemente[g] consolados.
Viaje de Troas a Mileto
13 Entonces nosotros(AD), adelantándonos a tomar la nave, zarpamos para Asón, con el propósito de recoger allí a Pablo, pues así lo había decidido, deseando ir por tierra[h] hasta Asón. 14 Cuando nos encontró en Asón, lo recibimos a bordo y nos dirigimos a Mitilene. 15 Y zarpando de allí, al día siguiente llegamos frente a Quío; y al otro día atracamos en Samos; habiendo hecho escala en Trogilio[i], al día siguiente llegamos a Mileto(AE). 16 Porque Pablo había decidido dejar a un lado a Efeso(AF) para no detenerse en Asia[j](AG), pues se apresuraba para estar, si le era posible, el día de Pentecostés(AH) en Jerusalén(AI).
17 Y desde Mileto mandó mensaje a Efeso(AJ) y llamó a los ancianos(AK) de la iglesia.
Despedida en Mileto
18 Cuando vinieron a él, les dijo:
Vosotros bien sabéis cómo he sido con vosotros todo el tiempo, desde el primer día que estuve[k] en Asia[l](AL), 19 sirviendo al Señor con toda humildad, y con lágrimas y con pruebas que vinieron sobre mí por causa de las intrigas de los judíos(AM); 20 cómo no rehuí declarar a vosotros(AN) nada que fuera útil, y de enseñaros públicamente y de casa en casa[m], 21 testificando(AO) solemnemente, tanto a judíos como a griegos, del arrepentimiento(AP) para con Dios y de la fe en nuestro Señor Jesucristo(AQ). 22 Y ahora, he aquí que yo, atado en espíritu[n], voy a Jerusalén(AR) sin saber lo que allá me sucederá, 23 salvo que el Espíritu Santo(AS) solemnemente me da testimonio(AT) en cada ciudad, diciendo que me esperan cadenas y aflicciones(AU). 24 Pero en ninguna manera estimo(AV) mi vida como valiosa para mí mismo, a fin de poder terminar mi carrera[o](AW) y el ministerio(AX) que recibí del Señor Jesús(AY), para dar testimonio(AZ) solemnemente del evangelio de la gracia de Dios(BA). 25 Y ahora, he aquí, yo sé que ninguno de vosotros, entre quienes anduve predicando el reino(BB), volverá a ver mi rostro. 26 Por tanto, os doy testimonio[p] en este día de que soy inocente[q](BC) de la sangre de todos, 27 pues no rehuí declarar a vosotros(BD) todo el propósito[r] de Dios(BE). 28 Tened cuidado de vosotros y de toda la grey(BF), en medio de la cual el Espíritu Santo os ha hecho obispos[s] para pastorear la iglesia de Dios[t](BG), la cual Él compró[u] con su propia sangre(BH). 29 Sé que después de mi partida, vendrán lobos feroces(BI) entre vosotros que no perdonarán el rebaño(BJ), 30 y que de entre vosotros mismos se levantarán algunos[v] hablando cosas perversas para arrastrar a los discípulos(BK) tras ellos. 31 Por tanto, estad alerta, recordando que por tres años(BL), de noche y de día, no cesé de amonestar a cada uno con lágrimas(BM). 32 Ahora os encomiendo a Dios[w](BN) y a la palabra de su gracia(BO), que es poderosa para edificaros(BP) y daros la herencia entre todos los santificados(BQ). 33 Ni la plata, ni el oro, ni la ropa de nadie he codiciado(BR). 34 Vosotros sabéis que estas manos(BS) me sirvieron para mis propias necesidades y las de los que estaban conmigo(BT). 35 En todo os mostré que así, trabajando, debéis ayudar a los débiles, y recordar las palabras del Señor Jesús, que dijo: «Más bienaventurado es dar que recibir».
36 Cuando terminó de hablar[x], se arrodilló y oró(BU) con todos ellos. 37 Y comenzaron a llorar desconsoladamente[y], y abrazando a[z] Pablo, lo besaban(BV), 38 afligidos[aa] especialmente por la palabra que había dicho de que ya no volverían a ver su rostro(BW). Y lo acompañaron(BX) hasta el barco.

20 Cuando cesó el alboroto, Pablo mandó llamar a los discípulos y después de animarlos, se despidió y salió rumbo a Macedonia. 2 Recorrió aquellas regiones, dando palabras de aliento a los creyentes en muchas ocasiones, y por fin llegó a Grecia, 3 donde se quedó tres meses. Como los judíos tramaban un atentado contra él cuando estaba a punto de embarcarse para Siria, decidió regresar por Macedonia. 4 Lo acompañaron Sópater, hijo de Pirro, de Berea; Aristarco y Segundo, de Tesalónica; Gayo, de Derbe; Timoteo; y por último, Tíquico y Trófimo, de la provincia de Asia. 5 Estos se adelantaron y nos esperaron en Troas. 6 Pero nosotros zarpamos de Filipos después de la fiesta de los Panes sin levadura, y a los cinco días nos reunimos con los otros en Troas, donde pasamos siete días.

7 El primer día de la semana nos reunimos para partir el pan. Como iba a salir al día siguiente, Pablo estuvo hablando a los creyentes y prolongó su discurso hasta la medianoche. 8 En el cuarto del piso superior donde estábamos reunidos había muchas lámparas. 9 Un joven llamado Eutico, que estaba sentado en una ventana, comenzó a dormirse mientras Pablo alargaba su discurso. Cuando se quedó profundamente dormido, se cayó desde el tercer piso y lo recogieron muerto. 10 Pablo bajó, se echó sobre el joven y lo abrazó. «¡No se alarmen! —dijo—. ¡Está vivo!». 11 Luego volvió a subir, partió el pan y comió. Siguió hablando hasta el amanecer y entonces se fue. 12 Al joven se lo llevaron vivo a su casa, para gran consuelo de todos.

13 Nosotros, por nuestra parte, nos embarcamos anticipadamente y zarpamos para Asón, donde íbamos a recoger a Pablo. Así se había planeado, ya que él iba a hacer esa parte del viaje por tierra. 14 Cuando se encontró con nosotros en Asón, lo tomamos a bordo y fuimos a Mitilene. 15 Desde allí zarpamos al día siguiente y llegamos frente a Quío. Al otro día cruzamos en dirección a Samos y un día después llegamos a Mileto. 16 Pablo había decidido pasar de largo a Éfeso para no demorarse en la provincia de Asia, porque tenía prisa por llegar a Jerusalén para el día de Pentecostés, si fuera posible.
17 Desde Mileto, Pablo mandó llamar a los líderes religiosos de la iglesia de Éfeso. 18 Cuando llegaron, les dijo: «Ustedes saben cómo me porté todo el tiempo que estuve con ustedes, desde el primer día que vine a la provincia de Asia. 19 He servido al Señor con toda humildad y con lágrimas, a pesar de haber sido sometido a duras pruebas por las maquinaciones de los judíos. 20 Ustedes saben que no he vacilado en predicar todo lo que les fuera de provecho, sino que les he enseñado públicamente y en las casas. 21 A los judíos y a los que no son judíos les he instado a arrepentirse ante Dios y a creer en nuestro Señor Jesús.
22 »Y ahora tengan en cuenta que voy a Jerusalén obligado[a] por el Espíritu, sin saber lo que allí me espera. 23 Lo único que sé es que en todas las ciudades el Espíritu Santo me asegura que me esperan prisiones y sufrimientos. 24 Sin embargo, considero que mi vida carece de valor para mí mismo, con tal de que termine mi carrera y lleve a cabo el servicio que me ha encomendado el Señor Jesús, que es el de dar testimonio del evangelio de la gracia de Dios.
25 »Escuchen, yo sé que ninguno de ustedes, entre quienes he andado predicando el reino de Dios, volverá a verme. 26 Por tanto, hoy declaro que soy inocente de la sangre de todos, 27 porque sin vacilar les he proclamado todo el propósito de Dios. 28 Tengan cuidado de sí mismos y de todo el rebaño sobre el cual el Espíritu Santo los ha puesto como obispos para pastorear la iglesia de Dios,[b] que él adquirió con su propia sangre. 29 Sé que después de mi partida entrarán en medio de ustedes lobos feroces que procurarán acabar con el rebaño. 30 Aun de entre ustedes mismos se levantarán algunos que enseñarán falsedades para arrastrar a los discípulos que los sigan. 31 Así que estén alerta. Recuerden que día y noche, durante tres años, no he dejado de amonestar con lágrimas a cada uno en particular.
32 »Ahora los encomiendo a Dios y al mensaje de su gracia, mensaje que tiene poder para edificarlos y darles herencia entre todos los santificados. 33 No he codiciado ni la plata ni el oro ni la ropa de nadie. 34 Ustedes mismos saben bien que estas manos se han ocupado de mis propias necesidades y de las de mis compañeros. 35 Con mi ejemplo les he mostrado que es preciso trabajar duro para ayudar a los necesitados, recordando las palabras del Señor Jesús: “Hay más dicha en dar que en recibir”».
36 Después de decir esto, Pablo se puso de rodillas con todos ellos y oró. 37 Todos lloraban inconsolablemente mientras lo abrazaban y lo besaban. 38 Lo que más los entristecía era su declaración de que ellos no volverían a verlo. Luego lo acompañaron hasta el barco.

20 After the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, took leave of them, and departed to go into Macedonia. 2 When he had gone through those parts and had encouraged them with many words, he came into Greece. 3 When he had spent three months there, and a plot was made against him by Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia. 4 These accompanied him as far as Asia: Sopater of Beroea, Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, Gaius of Derbe, Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia. 5 But these had gone ahead, and were waiting for us at Troas. 6 We sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and came to them at Troas in five days, where we stayed seven days.
7 On the first day of the week, when the disciples were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day; and continued his speech until midnight. 8 There were many lights in the upper room where we[a] were gathered together. 9 A certain young man named Eutychus sat in the window, weighed down with deep sleep. As Paul spoke still longer, being weighed down by his sleep, he fell down from the third floor and was taken up dead. 10 Paul went down and fell upon him, and embracing him said, “Don’t be troubled, for his life is in him.”
11 When he had gone up, had broken bread and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even until break of day, he departed. 12 They brought the boy in alive, and were greatly comforted.
13 But we, going ahead to the ship, set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul aboard there; for he had so arranged, intending himself to go by land. 14 When he met us at Assos, we took him aboard and came to Mitylene. 15 Sailing from there, we came the following day opposite Chios. The next day we touched at Samos and stayed at Trogyllium, and the day after we came to Miletus. 16 For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.
17 From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called to himself the elders of the assembly. 18 When they had come to him, he said to them, “You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you all the time, 19 serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears, and with trials which happened to me by the plots of the Jews; 20 how I didn’t shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house, 21 testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus.[b] 22 Now, behold, I go bound by the Spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there; 23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions wait for me. 24 But these things don’t count; nor do I hold my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to fully testify to the Good News of the grace of God.
25 “Now, behold, I know that you all, among whom I went about preaching God’s Kingdom, will see my face no more. 26 Therefore I testify to you today that I am clean from the blood of all men, 27 for I didn’t shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. 28 Take heed, therefore, to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and[c] God which he purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know that after my departure, vicious wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Men will arise from among your own selves, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Therefore watch, remembering that for a period of three years I didn’t cease to admonish everyone night and day with tears. 32 Now, brothers,[d] I entrust you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 33 I coveted no one’s silver, gold, or clothing. 34 You yourselves know that these hands served my necessities, and those who were with me. 35 In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
36 When he had spoken these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all. 37 They all wept freely, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him, 38 sorrowing most of all because of the word which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. Then they accompanied him to the ship.

20 When the uproar had ended, Paul sent for the disciples(A) and, after encouraging them, said goodbye and set out for Macedonia.(B) 2 He traveled through that area, speaking many words of encouragement to the people, and finally arrived in Greece, 3 where he stayed three months. Because some Jews had plotted against him(C) just as he was about to sail for Syria,(D) he decided to go back through Macedonia.(E) 4 He was accompanied by Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea, Aristarchus(F) and Secundus from Thessalonica,(G) Gaius(H) from Derbe, Timothy(I) also, and Tychicus(J) and Trophimus(K) from the province of Asia.(L) 5 These men went on ahead and waited for us(M) at Troas.(N) 6 But we sailed from Philippi(O) after the Festival of Unleavened Bread, and five days later joined the others at Troas,(P) where we stayed seven days.
Eutychus Raised From the Dead at Troas
7 On the first day of the week(Q) we came together to break bread.(R) Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight. 8 There were many lamps in the upstairs room(S) where we were meeting. 9 Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. 10 Paul went down, threw himself on the young man(T) and put his arms around him. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “He’s alive!”(U) 11 Then he went upstairs again and broke bread(V) and ate. After talking until daylight, he left. 12 The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted.
Paul’s Farewell to the Ephesian Elders
13 We went on ahead to the ship and sailed for Assos, where we were going to take Paul aboard. He had made this arrangement because he was going there on foot. 14 When he met us at Assos, we took him aboard and went on to Mitylene. 15 The next day we set sail from there and arrived off Chios. The day after that we crossed over to Samos, and on the following day arrived at Miletus.(W) 16 Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus(X) to avoid spending time in the province of Asia,(Y) for he was in a hurry to reach Jerusalem,(Z) if possible, by the day of Pentecost.(AA)
17 From Miletus,(AB) Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders(AC) of the church. 18 When they arrived, he said to them: “You know how I lived the whole time I was with you,(AD) from the first day I came into the province of Asia.(AE) 19 I served the Lord with great humility and with tears(AF) and in the midst of severe testing by the plots of my Jewish opponents.(AG) 20 You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything(AH) that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. 21 I have declared to both Jews(AI) and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance(AJ) and have faith in our Lord Jesus.(AK)
22 “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem,(AL) not knowing what will happen to me there. 23 I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me(AM) that prison and hardships are facing me.(AN) 24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me;(AO) my only aim is to finish the race(AP) and complete the task(AQ) the Lord Jesus has given me(AR)—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.(AS)
25 “Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom(AT) will ever see me again.(AU) 26 Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you.(AV) 27 For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.(AW) 28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock(AX) of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.(AY) Be shepherds of the church of God,[a](AZ) which he bought(BA) with his own blood.[b](BB) 29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves(BC) will come in among you and will not spare the flock.(BD) 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples(BE) after them. 31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years(BF) I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.(BG)
32 “Now I commit you to God(BH) and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance(BI) among all those who are sanctified.(BJ) 33 I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.(BK) 34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions.(BL) 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
36 When Paul had finished speaking, he knelt down with all of them and prayed.(BM) 37 They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him.(BN) 38 What grieved them most was his statement that they would never see his face again.(BO) Then they accompanied him to the ship.(BP)
