Pedro escapa milagrosamente de la cárcel
12 En ese tiempo el rey Herodes hizo arrestar a algunos de la iglesia con el fin de maltratarlos. 2 A Santiago, hermano de Juan, lo mandó a matar a espada. 3 Al ver que esto agradaba a los judíos, procedió a prender también a Pedro. Esto sucedió durante la fiesta de los Panes sin levadura. 4 Después de arrestarlo, lo metió en la cárcel y lo puso bajo la vigilancia de cuatro grupos de cuatro soldados cada uno. Tenía la intención de hacerlo comparecer en juicio público después de la Pascua. 5 Pero mientras mantenían a Pedro en la cárcel, la iglesia oraba constante y fervientemente a Dios por él.
6 La misma noche en que Herodes estaba a punto de sacar a Pedro para someterlo a juicio, este dormía entre dos soldados, sujeto con dos cadenas. Unos guardias vigilaban la entrada de la cárcel. 7 De repente apareció un ángel del Señor y una luz resplandeció en la celda. Despertó a Pedro con unas palmadas en el costado y le dijo: «¡Date prisa, levántate!». Las cadenas cayeron de las manos de Pedro. 8 Dijo además el ángel: «Vístete y cálzate las sandalias». Así lo hizo y el ángel añadió: «Échate la capa encima y sígueme».
9 Pedro salió tras él, pero no sabía si realmente estaba sucediendo lo que el ángel hacía. Le parecía que se trataba de una visión. 10 Pasaron por la primera y la segunda guardia y llegaron al portón de hierro que daba a la ciudad. El portón se abrió por sí solo y salieron. Caminaron unas cuadras y de repente el ángel lo dejó solo.
11 Entonces Pedro volvió en sí y se dijo: «Ahora estoy completamente seguro de que el Señor ha enviado a su ángel para librarme del poder de Herodes y de todo lo que el pueblo judío esperaba».
12 Cuando cayó en cuenta de esto, fue a casa de María, la madre de Juan, también llamado Marcos, donde muchas personas estaban reunidas orando. 13 Llamó a la puerta de la calle y salió a responder una criada llamada Rode. 14 Al reconocer la voz de Pedro, se puso tan contenta que volvió corriendo sin abrir.
—¡Pedro está a la puerta! —exclamó.
15 —¡Estás loca! —le dijeron.
Ella insistía en que así era, pero los otros decían:
—Debe de ser su ángel.
16 Entre tanto, Pedro seguía llamando. Cuando abrieron la puerta y lo vieron, quedaron pasmados. 17 Con la mano Pedro hizo señas de que se callaran y les contó cómo el Señor lo había sacado de la cárcel.
—Cuéntenles esto a Santiago y a los hermanos —dijo.
Luego salió y se fue a otro lugar.
18 Al amanecer se produjo un gran alboroto entre los soldados respecto al paradero de Pedro. 19 Herodes hizo averiguaciones, pero al no encontrarlo, tomó declaración a los guardias y mandó matarlos. Después viajó de Judea a Cesarea y se quedó allí.
Muerte de Herodes
20 Herodes estaba furioso con los de Tiro y de Sidón, pero ellos se pusieron de acuerdo y se presentaron ante él. Habiéndose ganado el favor de Blasto, hombre de confianza del rey, pidieron paz, porque su región dependía del país del rey para obtener sus provisiones.
21 El día señalado, Herodes, vestido con su ropaje real y sentado en su trono, dirigió un discurso al pueblo. 22 La gente gritaba: «¡Voz de un dios, no de hombre!». 23 Al instante, un ángel del Señor lo hirió porque no le había dado la gloria a Dios, y Herodes murió comido por gusanos.
24 Pero la palabra de Dios seguía extendiéndose y difundiéndose.
Despedida de Bernabé y Saulo
25 Cuando Bernabé y Saulo cumplieron su servicio, regresaron de[a] Jerusalén llevando con ellos a Juan, llamado también Marcos.

12 En aquel mismo tiempo el rey Herodes echó mano a algunos de la iglesia para maltratarles. 2 Y mató a espada a Jacobo, hermano de Juan. 3 Y viendo que esto había agradado a los judíos, procedió a prender también a Pedro. Eran entonces los días de los panes sin levadura. 4 Y habiéndole tomado preso, le puso en la cárcel, entregándole a cuatro grupos de cuatro soldados cada uno, para que le custodiasen; y se proponía sacarle al pueblo después de la pascua.(A) 5 Así que Pedro estaba custodiado en la cárcel; pero la iglesia hacía sin cesar oración a Dios por él.

6 Y cuando Herodes le iba a sacar, aquella misma noche estaba Pedro durmiendo entre dos soldados, sujeto con dos cadenas, y los guardas delante de la puerta custodiaban la cárcel. 7 Y he aquí que se presentó un ángel del Señor, y una luz resplandeció en la cárcel; y tocando a Pedro en el costado, le despertó, diciendo: Levántate pronto. Y las cadenas se le cayeron de las manos. 8 Le dijo el ángel: Cíñete, y átate las sandalias. Y lo hizo así. Y le dijo: Envuélvete en tu manto, y sígueme. 9 Y saliendo, le seguía; pero no sabía que era verdad lo que hacía el ángel, sino que pensaba que veía una visión. 10 Habiendo pasado la primera y la segunda guardia, llegaron a la puerta de hierro que daba a la ciudad, la cual se les abrió por sí misma; y salidos, pasaron una calle, y luego el ángel se apartó de él. 11 Entonces Pedro, volviendo en sí, dijo: Ahora entiendo verdaderamente que el Señor ha enviado su ángel, y me ha librado de la mano de Herodes, y de todo lo que el pueblo de los judíos esperaba.
12 Y habiendo considerado esto, llegó a casa de María la madre de Juan, el que tenía por sobrenombre Marcos, donde muchos estaban reunidos orando. 13 Cuando llamó Pedro a la puerta del patio, salió a escuchar una muchacha llamada Rode, 14 la cual, cuando reconoció la voz de Pedro, de gozo no abrió la puerta, sino que corriendo adentro, dio la nueva de que Pedro estaba a la puerta. 15 Y ellos le dijeron: Estás loca. Pero ella aseguraba que así era. Entonces ellos decían: ¡Es su ángel! 16 Mas Pedro persistía en llamar; y cuando abrieron y le vieron, se quedaron atónitos. 17 Pero él, haciéndoles con la mano señal de que callasen, les contó cómo el Señor le había sacado de la cárcel. Y dijo: Haced saber esto a Jacobo y a los hermanos. Y salió, y se fue a otro lugar.
18 Luego que fue de día, hubo no poco alboroto entre los soldados sobre qué había sido de Pedro. 19 Mas Herodes, habiéndole buscado sin hallarle, después de interrogar a los guardas, ordenó llevarlos a la muerte. Después descendió de Judea a Cesarea y se quedó allí.
Muerte de Herodes
20 Y Herodes estaba enojado contra los de Tiro y de Sidón; pero ellos vinieron de acuerdo ante él, y sobornado Blasto, que era camarero mayor del rey, pedían paz, porque su territorio era abastecido por el del rey. 21 Y un día señalado, Herodes, vestido de ropas reales, se sentó en el tribunal y les arengó. 22 Y el pueblo aclamaba gritando: ¡Voz de Dios, y no de hombre! 23 Al momento un ángel del Señor le hirió, por cuanto no dio la gloria a Dios; y expiró comido de gusanos.
24 Pero la palabra del Señor crecía y se multiplicaba.
25 Y Bernabé y Saulo, cumplido su servicio, volvieron de Jerusalén, llevando también consigo a Juan, el que tenía por sobrenombre Marcos.

12 Now during that time Herod the king laid his hands on Moshiach’s Kehillah to harm some of them.
2 He killed Ya’akov the ach Yochanan with a cherev (sword).
3 Having seen that this was pleasing to the Judeans, Herod proceeded to arrest Kefa also. This happened during the yamim of Chag HaMatzot. [SHEMOT 12:15; 23:25]
4 When he had Kefa seized, he put him in the beis hasohar, having handed him over to four squads of chaiyalim to guard him, intending after Pesach to bring him before the people.
5 Therefore, Kefa was being kept in the beis hasohar. But tefillah to Hashem was earnestly being made by Moshiach’s Kehillah for him.
6 But b’lailah, when Herod was about to lead him out, Kefa, bound with two sharsherot (chains), was sleeping between two chaiyalim; and, before the delet (door), were shomrim (guards) keeping watch over the beis hasohar.
7 Then a malach HaAdon approached and ohr (light) shone in the cheder (room), and, having struck the side of Kefa, he awoke him, saying, "Get up quickly!" And the kavlei varzel (shackles of iron) fell off his hands. [TEHILLIM 107:14; 149:8]
8 The malach said to Kefa, "Put on your gartel and tie your sandals." And Kefa did so. And the malach says to him, "Put on your kaftan and follow me."
9 And having gone out, Kefa was following the malach, and he did not have da’as that the thing was happening grahda (as a matter of fact, in reality), but he was thinking he was seeing a chazon through the malach.
10 And having gone through the shomrim (guards), the first and the second, they came upon the Sha’ar HaBarzel leading to the Ir Kodesh. This was opened to them by itself. And having gone out, they went along one rekhov (street), and immediately the malach went away from him.
11 And Kefa, having come to himself, said, "Now I have da’as for sure that HaAdon sent out his malach and delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Judean people." [TEHILLIM 34:7; DANIEL 3:28; 6:22]
12 Having realized this, Kefa came upon the bais of Miryam the Em (mother) of Yochanan, the one being called Markos, where there were many having been assembled and davening.
13 And when Kefa knocked on the delet (door) of the gate, a na’arah by name Rhoda, approached to listen.
14 And having recognized the kol (voice) of Kefa, from simcha she did not open the gate but, having run inside, she reported that Kefa stood at the gate.
15 But the ones there said to her, "You are meshuggah!" But she kept insisting it was so. But they were saying, "It is his malach."
16 But Kefa continued knocking. And having opened the gate, they saw him, and were mishpoyel (standing in awe).
17 And having motioned to them with his hand to be silent, he told them how HaAdon led him out from the beis hasohar. Then Kefa said, "Report to Ya’akov [see p.848] and to the Achim b’Moshiach these things." And having gone out, Kefa went to another place.
18 Now when it was boker, there was not a little commotion among the chaiyalim as to what had become of Kefa.
19 Now Herod, having sought after him and not having found him, after questioning the shomrim, commanded them to be led away to execution. Then Herod went down from Yehudah to Caesarea, and was staying there.
20 Now Herod was gor (very) angry with the people of Tzor and those of Tzidon, and with one mind they were coming to him; and, having won over Blastus, the king’s chamberlain, they were requesting shalom, because their country was fed by the king’s lands. [MELACHIM ALEF 5:9,11; YECHEZKEL 27:17]
21 Now on the appointed day, Herod, having clothed himself with royal malbush (clothing) and having sat down on the kes hamishpat, was delivering a public address to them.
22 And the multitude was crying out, "Hinei, the kol of a g-d and not of an ish!"
23 Immediately, a malach Adonoi struck him, because he did not give the kavod to Hashem. And, having become eaten with worms, Herod died. [SHMUEL ALEF 25:38; SHMUEL BAIS 24:16,17; MELACHIM BAIS 19:35]
24 But the dvar Hashem was growing and increasing.
25 And Bar-Nabba and Sha’ul returned from Yerushalayim, having fulfilled their shlichus (mission) to deliver the tzedakah and having taken along with them [back to Antioch], Yochanan the one called Markos.

Peter’s Miraculous Escape From Prison
12 It was about this time that King Herod(A) arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. 2 He had James, the brother of John,(B) put to death with the sword.(C) 3 When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews,(D) he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.(E) 4 After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.(F)
5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.(G)
6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains,(H) and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel(I) of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.(J)
8 Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him. 9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision.(K) 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself,(L) and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.
11 Then Peter came to himself(M) and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me(N) from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.”
12 When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark,(O) where many people had gathered and were praying.(P) 13 Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant named Rhoda came to answer the door.(Q) 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed(R) she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!”
15 “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.”(S)
16 But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. 17 Peter motioned with his hand(T) for them to be quiet and described how the Lord had brought him out of prison. “Tell James(U) and the other brothers and sisters(V) about this,” he said, and then he left for another place.
18 In the morning, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter. 19 After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross-examined the guards and ordered that they be executed.(W)
Herod’s Death
Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea(X) and stayed there. 20 He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon;(Y) they now joined together and sought an audience with him. After securing the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king’s country for their food supply.(Z)
21 On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22 They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.” 23 Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel(AA) of the Lord struck him down,(AB) and he was eaten by worms and died.
24 But the word of God(AC) continued to spread and flourish.(AD)
Barnabas and Saul Sent Off
25 When Barnabas(AE) and Saul had finished their mission,(AF) they returned from[a] Jerusalem, taking with them John, also called Mark.(AG)
