Pedro fue tras él, sin saber con certeza si lo del ángel era o no real; a él le parecía todo un sueño. 10 Pasaron el primer puesto de guardia, luego el segundo y, por fin, llegaron a la puerta de hierro que daba a la calle, la cual se abrió sola ante ellos. Ya en el exterior, caminaron un trecho y, sin más, el ángel desapareció de su lado. 11 Pedro entonces volvió en sí y exclamó:

— Ahora me doy cuenta de que el Señor ha enviado su ángel para librarme de las garras de Herodes y de la trama organizada contra mí por el pueblo judío.

And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision.(A) 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself,(B) and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.

11 Then Peter came to himself(C) and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me(D) from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.”
