Hebrews 9:8-10

⁸the Holy Spirit shewing this, that the way of the [holy of] holies has not yet been made manifest while as yet the first tabernacle has [its] standing;

⁹the which [is] an image for the present time, according to which both gifts and sacrifices, unable to perfect as to conscience him that worshipped, are offered,

¹⁰[consisting] only of meats and drinks and divers washings, ordinances of flesh, imposed until [the] time of setting things right.

⁸By this the Holy Spirit indicates that ^(A)the way into the holy places is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing ⁹(which is symbolic for the present age).^[a] According to this arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered ^(B)that cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper, ¹⁰but deal only with ^(C)food and drink and ^(D)various washings, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation.

⁸The Holy Spirit was showing^(A) by this that the way^(B) into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning. ⁹This is an illustration^(C) for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered^(D) were not able to clear the conscience^(E) of the worshiper. ¹⁰They are only a matter of food^(F) and drink^(G) and various ceremonial washings^(H)—external regulations^(I) applying until the time of the new order.
