The New Priestly Service
8 Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, (A)who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2 a Minister of (B)the [a]sanctuary and of (C)the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.
3 For (D)every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore (E)it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. 4 For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; 5 who serve (F)the copy and (G)shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, (H)“See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” 6 But now (I)He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a (J)better covenant, which was established on better promises.
A New Covenant(K)
7 For if that (L)first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 Because finding fault with them, He says: (M)“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the (N)Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and (O)I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 (P)None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the (Q)Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, (R)and their sins [b]and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
13 (S)In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

A New Covenant
7 For (P)if that first covenant had been free of fault, no [g]circumstances would have been sought for a second. 8 For in finding fault with [h]the people, He says,
“(Q)Behold, days are coming, says the Lord,
[i]When I will bring about (R)a new covenant
With the house of Israel and the house of Judah,
9 (S)Not like the covenant which I made with their fathers
On the day I took them by the hand
To bring them out of the land of Egypt;
For they did not continue in My covenant,
And I did not care about them, says the Lord.
10 (T)For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel
After those days, declares the Lord:
[j]I will put My laws into their minds,
And write them (U)on their hearts.
And I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.
11 (V)And they will not teach, each one his fellow citizen,
And each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
For (W)they will all know Me,
From [k]the least to the greatest of them.
12 (X)For I will be merciful toward their wrongdoings,
(Y)And their sins I will no longer remember.”
13 [l]When He said, “(Z)A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. (AA)But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is [m]about to disappear.

8 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

8 Die Hauptsache aber bei dem, was wir sagten, ist: Wir haben einen solchen Hohenpriester, der zur Rechten des Thrones der Majestät im Himmel sitzt, 2 einen Diener des Heiligtums und der wahrhaftigen Stiftshütte, welche der Herr errichtet hat, und nicht ein Mensch.
3 Denn jeder Hoherpriester wird eingesetzt, um Gaben und Opfer darzubringen; daher muß auch dieser etwas haben, was er darbringen kann. 4 Wenn er sich nun auf Erden befände, so wäre er nicht einmal Priester, weil hier solche sind, die nach dem Gesetz die Gaben opfern. 5 Diese dienen einem Abbild und Schatten des Himmlischen, gemäß der Weisung, die Mose erhielt, als er die Stiftshütte anfertigen wollte: "Siehe zu", hieß es, "daß du alles nach dem Vorbild machst, das dir auf dem Berge gezeigt worden ist!" 6 Nun aber hat er einen um so bedeutenderen Dienst erlangt, als er auch eines besseren Bundes Mittler ist, der auf besseren Verheißungen ruht.
7 Denn wenn jener erste [Bund] tadellos gewesen wäre, so würde nicht Raum für einen zweiten gesucht. 8 Denn er tadelt sie doch, indem er spricht:
"Siehe, es kommen Tage, spricht der Herr, da ich mit dem Hause Israel und mit dem Hause Juda einen neuen Bund schließen werde;
9 nicht wie der Bund, den ich mit ihren Vätern gemacht habe an dem Tage, als ich sie bei der Hand nahm, um sie aus Ägyptenland zu führen denn sie sind nicht in meinem Bund geblieben, und ich ließ sie gehen, spricht der Herr -,
10 sondern das ist der Bund, den ich mit dem Hause Israel machen will nach jenen Tagen, spricht der Herr: Ich will ihnen meine Gesetze in den Sinn geben und sie in ihre Herzen schreiben, und ich will ihr Gott sein, und sie sollen mein Volk sein.
11 Und es wird keiner mehr seinen Mitbürger und keiner mehr seinen Bruder lehren und sagen: Erkenne den Herrn! denn es werden mich alle kennen, vom Kleinsten bis zum Größten unter ihnen;
12 denn ich werde gnädig sein gegen ihre Ungerechtigkeiten und ihrer Sünden nicht mehr gedenken." -
13 Indem er sagt: "Einen neuen", hat er den ersten für veraltet erklärt; was aber veraltet ist und sich überlebt hat, das wird bald verschwinden.
