5 They serve (A)a copy and (B)shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, (C)“See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.” 6 But as it is, Christ[a] has obtained a ministry that is (D)as much more excellent than the old as (E)the covenant (F)he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. 7 (G)For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.

5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy(A) and shadow(B) of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned(C) when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”[a](D) 6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant(E) of which he is mediator(F) is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.(G)
