Hebrews 7:8-10

8 In this case mortal men receive tithes, but in that case one receives them, (A)of whom it is witnessed that he lives on. 9 And, so to speak, through Abraham even Levi, who received tithes, has paid tithes, 10 for he was still in the loins of his [a]forefather when Melchizedek met him.

8 In the one case, the tenth is collected by people who die; but in the other case, by him who is declared to be living.(A) 9 One might even say that Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham, 10 because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor.
