Hebrews 5:4-10

4 And (A)no one takes the honor for himself, but receives it when he is called by God, just (B)as Aaron also was.
5 So too Christ (C)did not glorify Himself in becoming a (D)high priest, but it was He who (E)said to Him,
“(F)You are My Son,
Today I have fathered You”;
6 just as He also says in another passage,
7 In the days of [a]His humanity, [b](I)He offered up both prayers and pleas with (J)loud crying and tears to the One (K)able to save Him [c]from death, and He [d]was heard because of His (L)devout behavior. 8 Although He was (M)a Son, He learned (N)obedience from the things which He suffered. 9 And having been (O)perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey Him, 10 being designated by God as (P)High Priest according to (Q)the order of Melchizedek.

International Standard Version
4 No one takes this honor upon himself but he is called to it by God, just as Aaron was.
The Messiah’s Qualifications as High Priest
5 In the same way, the Messiah[a] did not take upon himself the glory of being a high priest. No, it was God who said[b] to him,
“You are my Son.
Today I have become your Father.”[c]
6 As he also says in another place,
“You are a priest forever
according to the order of Melchizedek.”[d]
7 As a mortal man,[e] he offered up prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his devotion to God. 8 Son though he was, he learned obedience through his sufferings 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him, 10 having been designated by God to be a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.
