Hebrews 5:4-10
Legacy Standard Bible
4 And (A)no one takes this honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even (B)as Aaron was.
5 In this way also Christ (C)did not glorify Himself to become a (D)high priest, but He who (E)said to Him,
“(F)You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You”;
6 just as He says also in another passage,
7 He, [a]in the days of His flesh, [b](I)offered up both prayers and supplications with (J)loud crying and tears to the One (K)able to save Him [c]from death, and He [d]was heard because of His (L)reverence. 8 Although He was (M)a Son, He learned (N)obedience from the things which He suffered. 9 And having been made (O)perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, 10 being designated by God as (P)a high priest according to (Q)the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 5:4-10
Common English Bible
4 No one takes this honor for themselves but takes it only when they are called by God, just like Aaron.
5 In the same way Christ also didn’t promote himself to become high priest. Instead, it was the one who said to him,
You are my Son.
Today I have become your Father,
6 as he also says in another place,
You are a priest forever,
according to the order of Melchizedek.[a]
7 During his days on earth, Christ offered prayers and requests with loud cries and tears as his sacrifices to the one who was able to save him from death. He was heard because of his godly devotion. 8 Although he was a Son, he learned obedience from what he suffered. 9 After he had been made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for everyone who obeys him. 10 He was appointed by God to be a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.
