¹² For ^(A)the word of God is ^(B)living and ^(C)active, and sharper than any two-edged ^(D)sword, even penetrating as far as the division of ^(E)soul and ^(F)spirit, of both joints and marrow, and ^(G)able to ^[a]judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. ¹³ And ^(H)there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are ^(I)open and laid bare to the eyes of Him to whom ^[b]we must answer.

¹⁴ Therefore, since we have a great ^(J)high priest who has ^(K)passed through the heavens, Jesus ^(L)the Son of God, let’s hold firmly to our ^(M)confession. ¹⁵ For we do not have ^(N)a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been ^(O)tempted in all things just as we are, yet ^(P)without sin. ¹⁶ Therefore let’s ^(Q)approach the throne of grace with ^(R)confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need.

⁵ We are destroying arguments and all ^(A)arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the ^(B)obedience of Christ, ⁶ and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever ^(C)your obedience is complete.

^7 [a](D)You are looking at ^[b]things as they are outwardly. ^(E)If anyone is confident in himself that he is Christ’s, have him consider this again within himself, that just as he is Christ’s, ^(F)so too are we. ⁸ For if ^(G)I boast somewhat ^[c]more about our ^(H)authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be put to shame, ^9 [d]for I do not want to seem as if I would terrify you by my letters. ¹⁰ For they say, “His letters are weighty and strong, but his ^[e]personal presence is ^(I)unimpressive and ^(J)his speech contemptible.” ¹¹ Have such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when absent, such persons we are also in deed when present.

¹² For we do not presume to rank or compare ourselves with ^[f]some of those who ^(K)commend themselves; but when they ^[g]measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they have no understanding. ¹³ But we will not boast ^(L)beyond our measure, but ^[h](M)within the measure of the ^[i]domain which God assigned to us as a measure, to reach even as far as you. ¹⁴ For we are not overextending ourselves, as if we did not reach to you, for ^(N)we were the first to come even as far as you in the ^(O)gospel of Christ;
