Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, ^(A)we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. ⁹ But we see him ^(B)who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, ^(C)crowned with glory and honor ^(D)because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might ^(E)taste death ^(F)for everyone.

Warning Against Neglecting Salvation

2 Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. ² For since ^(A)the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and ^(B)every transgression or disobedience received a just ^(C)retribution, ^3 (D)how shall we escape if we ^(E)neglect such a great salvation? It was ^(F)declared at first by the Lord, and it was ^(G)attested to us ^(H)by those who heard,

¹⁵ As it is said,

²² let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts ^(A)sprinkled clean ^(B)from an evil conscience and our bodies ^(C)washed with pure water. ^23 (D)Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for ^(E)he who promised is faithful. ²⁴ And ^(F)let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, ^25 (G)not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and ^(H)all the more as you see ^(I)the Day drawing near.
