Jesus and Humanity

For He has not subjected to angels the world to come that we are talking about. But one has somewhere testified:

What is man that You remember him,
or the son of man that You care for him?
You made him lower than the angels
for a short time;
You crowned him with glory and honor[a]
and subjected everything under his feet.[b]

For in subjecting everything to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. As it is, we do not yet see everything subjected to him.(A) But we do see Jesus—made lower than the angels for a short time so that by God’s grace He might taste death for everyone—crowned with glory and honor(B) because of His suffering in death.(C)

10 For in bringing many sons to glory, it was entirely appropriate that God—all things exist for Him and through Him—should make the source[c] of their salvation perfect through sufferings.(D) 11 For the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father.[d] That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers,(E) 12 saying:

I will proclaim Your name to My brothers;
I will sing hymns to You in the congregation.(F)[e]

13 Again, I will trust in Him.[f] And again, Here I am with the children God gave Me.(G)[g]

His Death and Resurrection Predicted

21 From(A) then on Jesus began to point out to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day.(B) 22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, “Oh no,[a] Lord! This will never happen to You!”

23 But He turned and told Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me because you’re not thinking about God’s concerns,[b] but man’s.”(C)

Take Up Your Cross

24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.(D) 25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will find it.(E) 26 What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?(F) 27 For the Son of Man is going to come with His angels in the glory of His Father,(G) and then He will reward each according to what he has done.
