14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise (A)partook of the same things, that (B)through death he might (C)destroy (D)the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who (E)through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he (F)helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had (G)to be made like his brothers in every respect, (H)so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest (I)in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered (J)when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Jesus the Great High Priest

14 Since then we have (A)a great high priest (B)who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, (C)let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest (D)who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been (E)tempted as we are, (F)yet without sin. 16 (G)Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

26 For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, (E)holy, innocent, unstained, (F)separated from sinners, and (G)exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, (H)first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this (I)once for all when he offered up himself. 28 For the law appoints men (J)in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made (K)perfect forever.
